Type 2 - Managing Fear of Hypos

Hi Type 1 of 50 years. Hba1c 39 or 5.7. I can operate quite normally in the 3s and as i have never passed out or been hospitalised i do not worry about being low. I'm more concerned over being high and micromanage my condition. I am not being smug or glib its just i've had diabetes that long...

    What Producer you use?

Hi My gp surgery altered the needles i use a few years back which were cheaper. I didn't like them so asked the surgery to change my prescription which they did. I also had an issue with a particular brand of blood pressure tablet and spoke to the pharmacist and she got me the brand that worked...

Feeling ill / high blood sugar after brushing teeth.

Hi I don't eat breakfast unless i have to. I walk to work mon to fri which takes care of any rise in levels. At weekend i'm more sedate and take fast acting insulin if my levels start to rise. All quite straight forward for me. What insulin do you take? Its a fine line between taking enough...

Could your wifi router be used in the future to monitor for night time hypos

The idea of it is very exciting but what happens if i,m half way across the pennines ? Would we have to spend our entire lives within detector distance of a wi fi signal although some people do that already lol. Its quite mind boggling and i love a good boggle! Tony

    Melancholy

Hi I suffer with depression and take medication for it. I feel rather numb towards everyday life. My diabetes is my saviour as i pride myself in keeping in range and obsessed by the number of steps i do to help. I have lots of positives but tend only to find negatives. Sunday was a good day...

I've had a bullet proof weekend... Too much wine on saturday night woke up sunday at 3.1 looked at my graph and had been teetering along that level all night with either no alarm or me mot hearing it. I was active as i was running a stall at a christmas fair selling reindeer for charity so i had...

    Night sweats.

Hi On a sunday i tend to have bacon and when i'm thirsty after eating i'm forever checking my levels until my wife reminds me i've had bacon!! I had a cyst remover 25 years ago and the doctors blamed my diabetes until i pointed out my dad had a similar cyst years previously and he was and still...

    Switched to really Low carb

Hi Not really i have modified my life to suit my diabetes or the other way round lol. I'm a school caretaker and changed schools 3 years ago as i was getting fed up of driving. Thats 1000 steps to work. I do a split shift so thats 4000 steps before i've actually done anything. I can be as busy...

    Switched to really Low carb

Hi and welcome. You have enjoyed success and improvement in results so well done you. I am 95% in range over the last 3 months but do it differently. I rely on activity and by that i mean walking and nothing strenuous and average out 20000 steps per day. I graze during the day to stay level...

What machine are you using to check your bloods

Being 50 years a type 1 the wee machine is perfectly ok and such things were not available in 1975. That said i feel your pain as the libre is magnificent but at £50 plus for a sensor its hard to self fund and hard for the NHS too. If you are having hypos from tablets then NHS advice is needed...

Hi Being an old hack i'm used to lows and funnily enough i'm 3.7 as we speak and had a freddo bar. Fave story roughly 12 months ago........ In GP waiting room waiting for nurse appointment ...checked my libre 4.1 with arrow down. Popped in 3 jelly babies as i had no fast acting insulin on...
