Hi and welcome
I was diagnozed aged 7 and now 57.
My last hba1c was 39 or 5.7 which is good.
We had little or no tech back in the day so with all the wonders of today there is no reason why newly diagnozed diabetics can't live a normal life....
The future is bright
Tony
I get it @Nicola M .
I can run so much lower at night time thanks to my CGM.
I can still manage with just a meter but cannot afford to run in the 4s and 5s especially at night.
Good luck
Tony
Good morning
Sorry to be dull but i'm having one of those "oh what a lovely graph " mornings
5s all night flat lined and sat on 6.1 as i type.
I really do feel pleased when things go well and want to share but then get concerned people think i'm being smug which i'm not.....
I wish you all...
I have already posted that not much fazes me but the thought of a pump does @EllieM !
The very thought of it makes me shudder but i'm not sure why and i'm smiling as i type.
However i'm wise enough to know i might get the change from levemir wrong and i might need help and/or even a pump!!
My...
Hi
Good post for me as i am a levemir twice daily and novorapid user.
However i do things a bit differently so cannot answer a few of @Jamie S point.
Type 1 of 50 years i don't see a specialist or attend a diabetic clinic and rely on experience and my wits.
I don't mean that to sound smug its...
Hi @Chop1
Welcome to you..
Whilst i understand the necessity to understand diet allow me to add my slightly different viewpoint.....in a good way hopefully.
As a type 1 of 50 years in good shape and control i rely on 3 things....insulin carbohydrates and activity ( i dont use the word...
Hi @pokersteve
I hope you are ok.
I'm a type 1 of 50 years and i sort of flip in and out of low carbing.
I follow a simple equation to keep my levels good...
Carbs insulin and activity and i use the word "activity" to avoid the word "exercise" as it puts people off and i don't actually do...
Hi
Its peculiar to the individual.
For me monday to friday i take 10 units for my evening meal.
I am active at work and have a light lunch.
At weekends i am not active and need around 15 units for the same amount of carbs.
Thanks to the libre i worked out years ago the simple act of walking has...
Another one of those "oh what a lovely graph " moments on waking.
I slept well for a change and the two things i did different yesterday was ...
1.. i had a big intake of carbs for lunch like 80g which i only do on christmas day!
2.. Had a large tea (i'm from up north where its tea time at 6 pm...
I am annoyed for you!!!
I Don't see any specialist whatsoever and my GP surgery take my blood.
My GP himself said he wished people would take control of their diabetes like i do.....his words not mine.
You jolly well carry on looking after yourself.
Tony
I woke on 6.2 this morning and then i started to rise but my stroll in to work brought it back down and i'm at 5.4 as i type.
I was looking at my libre and i stayed steady all night and said to myself "what a lovely graph" .....
I giggled a bit and i wonder has anyone posted a thread about...
Hi
I was in the doctors surgery not long ago talking to a nurse when my alarm went off.
She was concerned at my lack of concern lol as i was reading 3.2 mmol....
While i was waiting to be seen i had already eaten.
She didn't grasp it until on leaving her insulting room lol i had returned to...
