    Mouth issues

Can loss of taste and mouth sensitivity be due to Type 1 diabetes? I’m a late onset (3yrs) and also have recently diagnosed Scleroderma. Two different autoimmune diseases … neither in the family history. Just my luck. To be positive although stiff joints etc I have no pain…yet.

    Libre 2

Not so Antje77. I do as it says but can takes several hours to engage ... almost as if the expiry time is set in stone leaving a lag time of potentially hours (or days?).

    Libre 2

I’ve found that if my Libre 2 sensor expires at 16.00 on a Wednesday the new sensor won’t start up until that time even if e.g. it has accidentally came off the day before. Is this a unique feature or glitch with Libre 2?

Any examples of neuropathy with late onset T1D?

Thanks Nicole. My GP checked back and my blood glucose result a year before onset of T1D was normal. I should add a few other conditions since the diagnosis…. taste sensation has reduced (with no knowledge of Covid infection). Dry mouth which is sensitive to hot drinks or food. I am indeed on...

Any examples of neuropathy with late onset T1D?

I’m late onset T1D (2 years ago) at 67 but now experiencing nerve type issues … very tender finger tips, stiff wrists, carpal tunnel syndrome, soles of feet, persistent diarrhoea. I monitor glucose levels well with Libre 2. Professional advice appears only to link neuropathy to long term T1D and...

    Libre 2

In spite of good hydration I continued to have issues e.g. “reading not available try again in 10 minutes” this repeated several times resulting on a graph with many gaps. With only a day to go I gave up with this sensor and finger stabbing in the hope that a new sensor would resolve the...

    Libre 2

Not a new sensor (2 days remaining). I’m accepting it has been a heat / hydration related issue. Will report If there is a further incident.

    Libre 2

I've been using Libre 2 for about 2 months now and I'm really pleased with it. I initially compared results with finger stabs and noted no real difference however last night my low sensor alarm went off 3 times during the night and on each occasion finger stab results were normal (e.g. Libre 2 =...

    Newly diagnosed Type 1

I was also a late onset T1D (at 67yrs). It's apparently normal to blame yourself for something but I've always been healthy, athletic even, never smoked and don't drink. Simple fact is it's an auto-immune disease ... I wonder if it is Covid related although I'm unaware of getting Covid...

    Supply of needles etc.

Just been informed by my chemist that there is a supply problem with single-use needles for insulin injection. I still have about 2 weeks supply but my question is do we really need to make them single use? Long-term diabetic friends laughed at me using needles as single use, but I was just...

    Diagnosed with T1

Diagnosed a year ago with T1 .... but at 68 I'm considering myself rather fortunate. Apart from the initial shock (always looked after myself, non-smoker, non-drinker into keep fit, gym and swim), then this. Typically we want answers to why but it really is just one of those things, an...

    Treating High BG before bed

I’m a late onset type 1 (67yr old) but always been athletic. Early on I found occasional high BG going to bed and found myself doing a bit of exercise to bring it down ... stair climb, push ups etc. rather than further injection. Now I make sure I eat nothing late in the evening or only...
