    'Hidden' Diseases and Annoying People

I regularly need to 'use the facilities' and sometimes even staff toilets in shops. I have a 'Just Can’t Wait' card from Bladder and Bowel UK which normally does the job. Available free from https://www.bbuk.org.uk/just-cant-wait-cards/

    Metformin to treat LADA?

To be honest, partly relieved but pretty angry too. I can't help but wonder (although it won't do me any good) if I'd been diagnosed correctly, could I have prevented developing the health conditions that have so drastically changed my life. Anyway, I now have a great team supporting me and I'm...

    LADA treatment

Hi Martha I was diagnosed as Type 2 when I was 32 and had a normal BMI. I battled for years to get an appropriate diagnosis and have gone from Type 2 to LADA and received a Type 1 diagnosis last week. My worst HbA1C was 117mmol/L!! I'm glad to see you have found a good Endocrinologist. When I...

    Metformin to treat LADA?

I was initially diagnosed as Type 2 (at 32, no weight issues) but my team increasingly suspected LADA. After developing Gastroparesis and Autonomic Neuropathy, I was referred to a specialist centre. I did a lot of research and the reference point seems to be 'Management of Latent Autoimmune...

how high and how low have you been?

Highest has been 'hi' which is over 27 (my meter doesn't measure over 27) and lowest has been 1.9. Had no warning before I hit 1.9 but was able to manage it before it got out of hand. Struggling to get normality since started injecting in October last year. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Diabetic and Depression

Sounds like we've got a bit of a theme here relating to bipolar and pumps. In this situation, does someone undertake to pursue the issue on behalf of the forum? Debs

No such thing as a diabetic diet

Hi Johnboy It is pretty confusing but I can testify that, following the experiential advice given here, my bg levels have dropped within a few weeks from a hospital admitting 'hi' (the meter only goes up to 27) to an average of 10. As I'm only just learning to carb count, it's a big improvement...

    Diabetic and Depression

PS - I would like to get in contact with any bipolar bears for some peer support and chats about managing the two conditions. I worry about managing my diabetes when I'm 'unwell'. :shh:

    Diabetic and Depression

Hi All I have just started on insulin and have bipolar/manic depression. I'm finding it really hard to come to terms with things together with planning to go back to work after being in hospital with severe hyperglycaemia and ketoacidosis. Whilst I have always been treatment compliant, I don't...
