Libre glucose monitor

Hi
I'm considering purchasing a libre glucose monitor. Can anyone tell me whether the app alone is adequate or whether I have to have the reader as well? I only ask as cost is a consideration.

I use only my iPhone and the app. I used to have a reader but I fried it with a run in with my morning coffee. I don’t miss the reader.

App is fine. Never had the reader and have been using the Libre for over 2 years.

I use Spike with my Libre and never use the Libre app - I start the sensor eith my Reader and then just use Spike. The android equivalent is Xdrip. I use a MiaoMiao transmitter with my Libre though- otherwise I would also be doomed to the Libre’s own app!

You need a certain phone with the reader. iPhone 7 is the minimum on IPhone but not sure about Android.

Cheap old phones on android work fine. Have used Samsung S3 mini and J3, and now Huawei P Smart.
