Plant Based Keto diet - anyone tried it

Have a look on any of the big supermarkets' websites - search vegetarian or vegan - there are lots of vegan and vegetarian protein options. I'm relatively new to the vegetarian way of eating but I'm finding tofu, textured vegetable protein products, Quorn, seitan, tempeh, lentils and pulses - all in moderation keep me in the keto range, giving me plenty of protein with a level of carbs that I am currently producing keytones. Its just a question of wanting to eat this way enough (for whatever reason) and then searching for protein alternatives and being open to solutions.

There seems to be a detailed explanation of the Karbeto diet on the website at this link https://www.reversediabetes.com.au/the-karbeto-diet-way-to-reverse-diabetes.htm - it seems to be a short term diet used at the start of the program, so that blood glucose doesn't spike up when eating carbs but then when insulin sensitivity improves, normal complex carb foods are introduced. interesting !

Their science claims are very suspect. They are making declarations that are not backed up by recent studies, and they have an agends - to hard sell their diet plan. They state loudly that low carb keto diets make diabetes worse, and are harmful - there is loads of evidence that this is not reality.

The Newcastle Diet or the Mosley 800 or the Blood Sugar diat all use techniques similar to the karbketo introduction, and these diets are now being accepted by the NHS as viable. Same with the Low Carb plan that this website supports and is now available on prescription from the GP The Unwin plan is also NHS approved now. So we have the answers here in this site. We even have vegan variants being used and vegan keto is possible although I have not done that myself. I do not think LIME offers any further advantages, but uses principles that are understood.

John, this site's Low Carb Programme (LCP) offers plant based options, is available in the NHS (I accept, being overseas, you would not be eligible for this on NHS prescription), and has peer reviewed, published data, surrounding its success rates.

At sign-up, the individual chooses their preferred way of eating, then goes on to specify any food intolerance, allergies and also, importantly, preferences.

On this link, if you scroll a little way, the published results are quoted: https://www.lowcarbprogram.com/nhs/. This includes a link to the full findings if you prefer to read the full paper.

Might be worth a look, especially as the LCP offers a 7-day free trial - a sort of try before you buy, which few other plans do.
