Insulin
Hi, I had just been diagnosed as type 3 c. I Have to go onto insulin and have been given creon. I have not seen a gastro specialist as there is an eight month waiting list. Does anyone have any information about what foods to avoid whilst on creon. I had no information on this just prescribed by Gp.

If you are type 3c then your pancreas isn't working as it should do. So you have two main things that need to be topped up to to replace what your pancreas isn't providing - insulin and digestive enzymes (Creon). With Creon I eat everything, but others have reported problems, either from certain foods, or reactions to Creon itself. You will have to test yourself to see how you react. What dosage of Creon have you been told to start with? They are usually 10,000 and 25,000 strength tablets.

The higher dose to start with. I understand why I need the insulin and creon but I have been given no advice on how to take or how not to take. I am allergic to pork so struggling with the creon at the moment.

How severe is your pork allergy?
And have you already taken the creon and experienced an allergic reaction, or are you apprehensive because of the allergy?
It’s a mild allergy but I have the itchy skin and headache and feel sick. Only taken six tablets so far so I am hoping that it will ease after a while.

Does your doctor know about the allergy? I hope it gets better too but it may be worth raising the issue with your GP.
