I have Type 2 diabetes.
Some time ago, I was prescribed the Ozempic injection pen by my diabetic nurse, and we all know that the demand got so great
that it was unobtainable on the NHS.
So i was then you can take this new injection (Mounjaro) .
Now I'm told by my pharmacy that this is also unobtainable on the NHS, so where do we go from here.
I have informed my doctors, and as yet am waiting for a reply
.

Hi @Javen and welcome to the forum. I was started on Victoza an injection similar to Ozempic a couple of years ago and had the same problem with obtaining it when so called ‘skinny jabs’ hit the headlines. Long story short I was prescribed Rybelsus tablets instead (an oral form of semaglutide, the drug in Ozempic). I had it for both blood sugar and weight control. My blood sugars were already very good but Rybelsus plus a low carb diet have kept them so. I have also lost a shed load of weight and am now at a healthy weight. At my review I was allowed to stay on it for maintenance.
Maybe something for you to consider?

Mounjaro certainly is available on the NHS but with very strict criteria. Some GPs are prescribing but sometimes need support from a specialist. Prescription rates are continually increasing but it very much depends upon region and individual GP. Rates are generally quite low - fewer than 1% of patients on GP’s list, but some areas it is very close to zero.IMG_7801.jpeg
