Hello all. As a long-standing type 1 diabetic, 50yrs and counting, i have posted before about Libre2 inaccuracies with lower range (hype level) readings; but have discovered recently on exploring this further that Libre2+ (what i'm prescribed at the moment) can also be inaccurate at the higher end by 2-3 mmol readings as well?! So, while the NHS pushes for better monitoring of diabetes through these sensors, who is that actually benefitting if your readings can be inaccurate at either end of the "ideal range" scale? Sorry about my obvious annoyance about this, but right now when my sensor was showing me being at 8.3, when a double check with finger pricking showed my BG at 11.2, i am really upset at this, thinking i've been generally in the targeted range, when i may well not have been for a while.

Hi Rita,
I have been T1 for 48 years and have been using Libre for a number of years now. My experience is when ' in range' they seem to be very accurate but frustratingly when either side ( high or low) they're not.
Personally, I can't believe how many duff ones I get.

I thought the problem was mostly at the lower end of the target zone, but it seems the same happens at the other, higher end too. Very frustrating.

Hi
I have been using the libre around 10 years now and apart from the odd duff sensor i find it fantastic.
The only left field thing i do is pop a new sensor on 2 days before i need a new one so i have 2 sensor in for 2 days then when i activate the new one ensure i am stable for that hour it takes to activate.
Levels in the 5s or 6s with no food or fast acting insulin on board.

My last hba1c was 39 or 5.7 and been type 1 for 50 years.

Along with the 4mm needles the libre has been a revelation for me and i wouldn't be without it.

That confirms my findings: if Libre gives readings of 5, 6 or 7 they match with finger-prick readings. If a 4.5 or lower Libre reading, that reading is likely to be 2-3 mmol lower than what a finger prick says; and if a Libre reading of 8 or 9, then the finger-prick reading is 2-3 mmol higher (and out of ideal range). I'd been told by my specialist that Libre (i don't know if all versions of it) can be 2-3 mmol different to finger prick readings, but had wrongly assumed this was just at the lower end of the scale.

Hi
I was just saying how the libre works for me and how i get it to run accurately most of the time with the hba1c confirming this.

For me the libre is accurate high or low with years of experience in using it.
