My brother was diagnosed last July after he lost a lot of weight. He was an solid 15 stone before but has gone down to just under 12.
It has affected him mentally as well and is now on antidepressants.
He seems to have sorted out his levels and is eating as normal which is good news, and has put 4kg back on. Possibly down to a combination of eating normally and the table.
What he's complaining about is the lack of feeling in his toes and the lack of strength in his legs.
I read that the nerve endings diminish because of this. He's been having physio on a weekly basis

Is there a chance that this can be reversed in any way. i.e. through medication or exercise?

Hi @Sosban13 and welcome to the forums.
What he's complaining about is the lack of feeling in his toes and the lack of strength in his legs.
While diabetic neuropathy is a known diabetic complication, it's normally after years of out of control diabetes. Is your brother T1 or T2? (I am guessing, possibly incorrectly, the former, just because of the way he was diagnosed.) I hope he has spoken to his doctors about his symptoms?

There is a (hopefully temporary) thing called treatment induced neuropathy of diabetes, which may or may not be relevant.

But honestly I wouldn't necessarily assume his symptoms are diabetes related and given how recently he has been diagnosed I wouldn't be making any long term predictions about his symptoms. (Forum rules don't let us diagnose anyway.)

Really best for him to talk to his team about his symptoms but I appreciate that you are looking out for him. Would he find it helpful to join the forums himself?

Good luck to both of you.
