Recipe makers ideas welcome
Recipe
.
Something easy to carry , and firm
Something safe for consumption after 4hrs travel
And sustain for at least 5hrs
Something hi in protein
low in carbs
Bread in any form is not tolerated well
In house I have eggs, cheese, protein powder, 100gms four whole wheat , SR or Plain or Almond, benecol spread or butter , seed mix, chia seeds , , nuts, salad bag

As extra s I could take lo sugar energy bar, whole almonds, up for suggestions
I take metformin x 2 insulin x 1 I do have hypos monitored and treated ok
If anyone has a Recipe suggestions or ideas how to use any of these ingredients to make something sustaining
Or at push something to buy en route london railway station shops

Not sure when this trip is happening.. 8th of April was yesterday, and not a Monday?
But maybe experiment with a quiche, eggs and cheese in a tart base. Experiment with quantities till you get something portable, maybe add flavour with onions and tiny tomatoes. Use an insulated bag with an ice pack.
Am a big fan of taking my own food, after suffering food poisoning from station bought supplies!!
Tortilla wraps travel well too, if that isn’t toobreadlike for you.
Have a good trip!

@Marikev :p thank you for both suggestions . Quiche might be possible if I can get the ''egg filling texture'' correct.

That has jogged my memory - quiche material in a used margarine tub sprinkled with a suitable flour makes a quiche with a suitable consistenicy and when cooked by microwave can be carried in the tub with lid. Thanks There wholemeal tortilla wraps. 1/2 a wrap filled with salmon or chicken; plus salad would be good. Again a tub could be employed. Both of those can travel in a homemade insulated bag. Good suggestions

I take a plastic box of cheese (cut into cubes) nuts (almonds work well) olives (flavoured oils are good such as chilli or lemon) all mixed with a little extra olive oil.
I find it tasty and very filling.
Can also take the parts separately and mix together in whatever proportions I feel like at the time.
Can also add cold meats such as chorizo or salami.

Keeps well without fridge and flavour gets better over longer time. Can be eaten with fingers.

Also hard boiled eggs travel well, and can often be bought ready cooked in the 'snack' sections at sandwich sections such as Boots and M&S

@mrs A2 Yes those might work . They are ideas I could incorporate into my daily diet, also. I need to make some changes with a few new ideas

Thank you. Ive decided on a firm chicken pie, with a box of mixed salad and tortilla chips. In a picnic bag and small ice pack. Something with eggs chese , whole wheat and almond flour with mixed seeds will be made tomorrow, which can be cut into chunky bars. Depending on fingerprick readings I will also have a small apple and or a Fulfil bar, in case of delays

:) we had an email today to say the tain restaurant is open and we have a place. Im taking the food anyway for the evening - or in case something goes wrong . The snack biscuits turned out ok 100g whole wheat plain , 60 almond, 30coconut flours About 60 fat spread (adjust when mixing). 1 tspn curry powder , cut up thin slice of cheese , 75g mix of chia seeds, 4 mix seeds, chopped nuts. Slightly cut into 1cm fingers . Cooked at 160 fan for 10 mins .
Yum
