What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen

Blood sugars this morning were 7.2

This morning here in Tilehurst Towers is a sort of relaxing morning, but this afternoon is full on, culminating a piece of grandsons birthday cake, homemade, he is 10 today.

Now selfishly I am going to drink my koffy.
Have a good day all, smile and try to enjoy the day.

Happy birthday to your grandson, @alf_Josiah; to him and to you. Enjoy the cake and the coffee.

Just had a phone call from GP surgery asking me to go in to see a doctor to discuss the result of my echocardiogram. I was expecting to have to start pushing for a result next week sometime. Quick reactions are slightly concerning. Still, the appointment isn't until next Tuesday so not so very urgent. Even if it is - this old heart has done me well enough for the last 80 years so I'm not expecting much of a problem. It's a genetic thing. We all have very strong hearts - medics have commented on that fact over the years.

Just received another e-mail to say my claim has been cancelled. I think there must be 2 departments not talking to each other. I'm doing nothing more until I get the router back from the Royal Mail - if I do. If they do repay the cost, then I'll send it back again, if not, I'll keep it and try to sell it on E-bay.

6.6 at 02.20 today. Got to bed at midnight so that was just short of 21/2 hours in bed - about half an hour more in the chair.
UPDATE on the Amazon saga.
The package came back to me in today's post. I went through the process to return it to Amazon again but exactly the same thing happened - Royal Mail didn't get details of the return along with the booking. I have cancelled the return again and had a moan at Amazon. They now say I have to get in touch with the seller directly. Aaargh!!!

5.3 this morning.

Yesterday we got a letter the a debt collection agency on behalf of the HMRC for unpaid tax.

This was the PAYE that I completely forgot to pay in December when Mr K was having his op.

When HMRC reminded me in March I immediately paid it but didn't realise that I couldn't use my usual payment code to pay it. So it went into.my HMRC account as a credit but didn't go towards paying for December's PAYE. Instead my account showed I owed December's PAYE but there was also a credit on the account for exactly the same amount.

HMRC couldn't sort it when I phoned them so in desperation I asked my accountant if he could sort it. Luckily he did and HMRC used the credit to pay off the unpaid PAYE.

So all sorted until we got the debt collectors request to pay December's PAYE.

Rang the debt collector this morning and explained the situation. They were really nice and helpful and asked me to ring HMRC. I rang HMRC who apologised for the error and asked me to ring the debt collection agency to tell them to contact HMRC who would confirm that we don't owe anything.

I rang the debt collector who said that they would ring HMRC but would first close my case so I wouldn't get anymore requests for payment. They were a really nice company to deal with.

What a relief that it is all sorted

Must have been really worrying for you. Glad that it's sorted out now though.

6.6 at 04.00 today. No sun this morning; heavy mist all around. Maybe the sun will break through later. It's also a bit on the chilly side.

I was speaking to a young woman from Shri Lanka yesterday. She has been in this country for a few years now and reckons she has never been warm since she got here. An Australian lady I also spoke to yesterday reckons the same thing. Both are married to Lewis men so have little choice in where they live. Lewis men often do move to other parts of the world, but the Isle of Lewis is always home to them. I guess you just have to take the rough with the smooth.

Afternoon all and back as promised.

This morning was a trifle busy here in Tilehurst Towers.
I asked a furniture maker to make some taller feet for our sofa and arm chair, thankfully he fitted these this morning and at the same time Mrs J had got a professional oven clean in to clean her oven, yes her oven, I was banned and still are from cooking because of the mess I allegedly make.
Note other puddings are available.
This afternoon was resting and a little time in the garden.
Well that was that, have a pleasant evening all.

8.2 at 04.30 today.

Legs day today so am just about to get myself organised after painkilers and some coffee followed by another doze in the chair.

EDIT: back now and absolutely shattered. Couldn't even put my socks on before going out and had to get Neil to do it for me. He didn't mind, but I did! Probably did too much over the last few days.

My excursion out on Tuesday was more tiring than it might have been because the armchair I was offered was too low and I knew that I wouldn't get back out of it without either a fork lift truck or a couple of willing helpers so I asked for a higher chair. The only ones available were: one solid wooden chair of a good height and a few lightweight, folding garden chairs with cushions which looked unlikely to take my weight. I chose the wooden one and sat there for the next 2 hours. I knew it was a mistake after the first 10 minutes. My legs were fine until I stood up but my back and backside were in agony. That's the mistake I have been paying for ever since. Neil suggests I take a thick cushion next time to raise my height in the armchair. I will have to hunt out a thick cushion to take with me in future. :inpain::arghh::inpain::arghh::inpain:

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and those whose playing hopscotch day are history.

Blood sugars this morning were 4.9 whoops.

Today is national bin day, the bins were treated to an outing to the bottom of the drive. The rest of the morning was busy and after a much needed post lunch nap it’s clear up and put stuff away time.

A friend has bought me a tiny Mexican sombrero which he claims matches my favourite things, hots and naps, sorry no pictures.

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon all.

I do hope you are feeling a lot less sore now @Annb

Awful night. Pain not receding at all. I did manage to stay in bed for 2 1/2 hours though, so no worse than usual.
BG at 02.45 was 8.2. As usual I dozed in the chair under the influence of my painkillers. Still a bit sleepy and my 2nd cup of coffee doesn't have any effect on that. As with alcohol, caffeine seems to have no effect on me whatsoever.
