Trurapi Shortage

As of April 2026, there are reported supply problems with Trurapi (insulin aspart) in the UK, with some users reporting difficulties sourcing stock in areas like Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, leading to potential, localized shortages. While Trurapi was previously recommended as an alternative to shortages of other insulins, it is now experiencing its own availability issues. [1, 2]

Managed to get another prescription but been to all local pharmacies and none have Trurapi in stock nor know when the next delivery will be
one pharmacist did mention Novorapi will be the second choice if you speak with your diabetic team

Latwst update
when my Trurapi runs outI start omn novorapid
this looks tobe a widespread thing

When I changed GP recently my Novorapid was swapped to Trurapi for insulin pump failure. It’s cheaper than Novorapid. I suspect all GP’s are doing this and they can’t keep up with the new demand

I started bolus with Trurapi over a year ago never had a problem but now it seems in such short supply, I have been replaces woth Novorapid at my next alternative. I don't know how long I will be kept on Novoraid bu just seen in my records it is a short term prescription so not sure what is going on

Just been put on to Trurapi by the Hospital. Most of the local Chemists haven't heard of it. Very difficult to get hold of in South Wales Swansea area.

I hav read up on Trurapi and found the NHS uts people on that because it is cheaper than Novorapid, so every one hets changed to it and then there is a shortage meaning people like me who cant get it have to go onto the more expensice on novorapid
In consolation I have never had a problem with Trurapi, one or two false hypos but nothing too bad, you will probably start very low doses do you use Trujeo as well ?
