I'm tired of people assuming that just because I'm on ozempic (or anyone else) that I'm only using it to curb my appetite I've never had issues with constantly having intrusive food noise or what snack or meal I'm going to eat next. I normally eat only when I'm hungry not because there's food around, and I generally eat healthy sure occasionally eat occasionally "processed" type of foods like everyone else occasionally but not I t always. Abd I'm using ozempic to control my BSL as my current medications are no longer helping after 15 or so years they're are no longer controlling my BSL. Yes I know need to loose weight but if I compare my foods to someone who is thin I'm generally eating healthy or healthierthan they are. I rarely eat or buy highly processed junk food as I prefer to cook my own meals and they are healthy meals 95% 98% of the time. I sore a radiologist to do an ultra sound the other day for my bowel disease crohns colitis when he heard I'm using ozempic for my BSL and mentioned I'm starting to get bad bloating symptoms gas farting so hoping it goes away his answers was that what you want so you don't eat I mean W.T......seriously are doctors prescribing ozempic to create eating disorders or to help with blood sugar and or weight loss.

Hi @annabell1 , I feel I’m on the brink of facing this. I have been on several GLP 1 meds over the last three years. I initially lost a shed load of weight when I was diagnosed type 2 in 2017 just by low carbing. I then lost both my parents in the early 2020s, and by 2023 I had put half the weight back on. I wasn’t in the frame of mind to try to lose it without some help. That was when I asked for and was put on GLP 1 meds. I am now nearly back to my ideal weight but will continue on Mounjaro for my diabetes. I am waiting for the criticisms to come!

Hi @Rachox I was reluctant to try ozempic only because when discussed with my endocrinologist about it couple if years ago my Endocrinologist was concerns it would cause issues with my bowel disease crohns colitis due to side effects of ozempic. But after trailing other medications like jardiance and metformin and both causing side affects, my last visit with my Endocrinologist he suggested ozempic. I wasn’t sure about trying it and to be honest was reluctant to try it especially after our previous conversations. But apparently there are studies supporting the use of GLP1 on helping people with crohns and ulcerative colitis and many other health conditions and the benefits og using GLP1s. There are now quite a few clinical studies on the use of GLP1s.

Apparently our bodies produce GLP1s but not as much as these injectable medications provide but eating protein and healthy fats like eggs, fish, and Greek yogurt, healthy fats like avocado within a meal signals the gut to release GLP-1 and eating fiber will slow down digestion, giving our bodies more time to use GLP1s.
I understand about trying to manage a healthy diet and lifestyle. In this day and age. You are doing what is right for you, I don't have issues with anyone using GLP1s for what they have been designed for. And its helping you with your health no one else's business its your body. I'm just over the media constantly branding GLP1S now everything is glp1s protein fibre. And im concern that these medications are being prescribed without proper guidelines increasing healthy protein etc.

In my opinion I believe the push for low fat dietary guidelines caused an epidemic of T2D obesity and host of other diseases and feel like the dietary guidelines are doing a full circle. I remember when first diagnosed seeing diabetic educator was advise to eat carbs carbs and more carbs, was advised to eat cereal breakfast then more carbs for morning tea like muffins scones because they were low fat instead of fruit. Half a plate full of rice potatoes add other vegetables then protein. Bread sandwiches How interesting that the recommendations seem to be changing again and its focus is now on fibre protein, carbs and healthy fats. And now we all seek dietary advice cause we don't now how to eat anymore.
Take care?
