How long for Gliclazide to work, and what dose are you on...?

Supposedly Gliclazide starts working 'within a few hours', according to the Google AI summary, so I thought my expectations of seeing some instant results today were semi-realistic, given that I took my first 30mg pill yesterday morning (Friday. It's the Modified Release version).

Now Saturday morning, I saw no change in my morning level (8mmol/L, completely consistent with recent months) and the level two hours later being 12.6, was again just what I would normally expect.

So did anybody actually witness instant results from it...? Did anybody see no results regardless of timescale and require a dosage increase to actually benefit from it...? If so, at what dosage did results happen...?

Feel free to share any other experiences with the drug.

Gliclazide is a type of medicine that can be used to treat people living with type 2 diabetes.

Glic works by increasing the amount of insulin you make, usually after you have eaten. It doesn’t make your body increase insulin when you haven’t eaten, and it doesn’t stop your liver from releasing glucose.

So my understanding is that it isn’t directly likely to have an impact on fasting blood sugar levels or the Dawn phenomenon. Where you would hope to see results is in the spike in blood sugars after eating. If that then leads to lower blood sugars overall it might result in a lower fasting blood sugar.

I took it for 14 years, it helped at first but slowly seemed to stop working as I assume my pancreas gradually became less efficient.
