Hi. How’s everyone doing?
Got yr nine mock exams. Today was the first one and my sugars go to two so that was embarrassing. They’ve been all over the place recently.
Anyway …
Anything interesting happening in your world?

Hey there @Hoodiegirl3 :)

I struggled with my sugars too during exams but I think stress was definitely a factor and the heat today probably won’t have helped you either. Easy for me to say but don’t let a low blood sugar affect how you’re feeling, you can’t help it and it happens to us all at the most inconvenient times sometimes.

I’m currently in a rehab ward for unrelated things to diabetes but I did some wheelchair transfer practice today onto the bed and then back into the wheelchair and built some more Lego (big Lego fan!). It’s very hot here though which I’m not enjoying.

Hope you have a good rest of your week!

Hi @Hoodiegirl3 don't let the mocks stress you out, there is never ever only one chance at things in life.

If you ever have a flair up in a real exam and things just don't go as well as you would expect. You can appeal for Special Consideration after the exam which takes in to account the grade you were expected to achieve. (keep a glucose log)

Speak to your school you can arrange in advance with there permission to bring blood glucose monitors, insulin pumps, sensors, and mobile phones (for monitoring alerts) into the exam room.:bookworm:

As @Nicola M said above hot weather and stress full situations are beyond your control, its always important to know if things go wrong you can get help to put them right again. ;)

Best of luck.

Hi @Hoodiegirl3 , how I hate hypos and hypos in exams are no fun at all. I agree with @There is no Spoon that it's worth getting all your permissions and special considerations worked out. Hopefully by the time the final exams happen your bgs will be behaving themselves and you'll have the best strategies in place to handle any bg issues that may occur. (For me, stress generally sends my insulin needs through the roof.)

@Nicola M I love lego. Photos please! Glad you are in rehab rather than main hospital and hope you get to go home soon.

It's winter here so no worries about the heat and I'm playing lots of bridge (the card game). My diabetes has been playing up a bit for the last couple of weeks because I've had a long lasting cold (I'm innoculated against flu and covid so I'm pretty sure this is just a boring old cold), and I've had to create a new stronger bolus profile for my pump. On the mend now though, and my insulin resistance is going down.

Planning a trip to the UK for my dad's 96th birthday in July so a little nervous about the heat....

Try moving to Scotland its only 17 degrees here.

Leggo you say!
My Daughter is into the 5000 piece Japanese architecture micro Lego brands found on Amazon. She loves building them and taking them apart again to be able to build them again in the future. If you haven't tried them yet @Nicola M you might enjoy them.

It's a joint effort to take the completed models apart they are pieces are so small requires tweezers, plenty of containers to hold all the pieces and about 5-7 hours with minimal coffee breaks, she's a hard taskmaster who wants to play her music while we do so. (Other peoples music is almost always bad, it's worse when your daughter is in to J-Pop :headphone:)

5-7 hours prizing tinny pieces of plastic apart with tweezers is hard on the back, and the ears, but I'm happy to spent time with my daughter doings something she loves.
