What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.6 at 04.00 today.
Feeling kind of shaky, but BG isn't low. Don't know what that's about. Not enough sleep maybe. Also feeling a bit chilly - had to put my shawl on again - it is actually pretty overcast here and there's a kind of dampness in the air, without there being any rain. Something more than humid, but not quite rain. That's Hebridean weather for you!

Blood sugars this Morening were 7.5 and now 8.9

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, the tennis is over and so is the foot the ball, but not the fighting, what a terrific advertisement for the competition, I can’t wait for Eurovision, perhaps I can.

Now I must away be

Just spoke to the diabetes nurse at our group practice about whether I can get the weight loss injections and she tells me I have been referred back to the hospital care because my case is so complex. At the moment she agrees with the decision made by the hospital diabetes nurse that I shouldn't be given the injection, or the pills, without closer monitoring than the GP practice can give. Apparently there is a diabetes consultant who comes from the mainland every few months who might take on my case. I never even knew there was one - after all these years under their care. The nurse I spoke to warned me that the waiting list to be seen by the hospital is something like 9 months. Wonderful!

EDIT: I wish we had some private healthcare providers on the Island. I'm having a few fed-up kind of days with all the struggling with diabetes+++. Not depressed by any means - just irritated. That and the old Scenic giving us some grief (have to wait for the supplier to get around to sending the spare part we've bought - it seems to be so very difficult to send things to unusual and exotic places like the Outer Hebrides - most carriers don't know where it is and so won't quote to take the delivery on). Is there an emoji for wanting to strangle someone? :banghead:

6.5 at 04.00 today. Over 8 by the time I got through to the kitchen, but it fell again pretty rapidly.

Hospital appointment today. Neil will take me in Alistair's old Dacia. It's really an old banger but it runs. When we've finished with it Alistair is going to try to sell it for spares - he's buying an electric van. Apparently it's OK if we don't want to open the back door/hatch. The lock on that is jammed. I suppose my wheelchair will have to go onto the back seat.

EDIT: The handbrake doesn't work very well either. And the alarm that tells you the back door isn't closed properly keeps going off. Annoying.
The Consultant is ordering a whole raft of new tests but doesn't quite get why I can't have the weight loss medication. Upping the dose of one of my medications because my BP is too high now. Low heart rate alarm went off while I was there, but it stopped again and pulse went back to a normal rate, so he didn't follow it up then and there - just ordered another heart test. At least he saw it happen. That's a first.

Libre alarm went off at 02.10 at 3.7. Had my emergency biscuits (I buy individual packs of 2 little ginger biscuits for that) and that brought it up to 6.5 by the time I sorted myself out and got through to the kitchen, half an hour later.

Legs day today. I don't think Neil's very keen on the Dacia, but it has a wheel on each corner, the engine makes them go and I can get into it relatively easily, so I'm happy enough meantime.

Alistair had his pocket picked in Rome yesterday. Luckily, there was only a little money and his cash cards in it. He realized what had happened within minutes so cancelled his cards immediately. Not a major emergency, but it rather sours the family's view of Rome and spoils the holiday a bit. They were a bit uncomfortable anyway because DIL is in a wheelchair to get around and the places they have been are all cobbled. Em, at least, was quite excited by a Lego museum with a Starship Enterprise made of Lego - about 7 metres long. Such a cultured experience, going to Rome.

3.6 at 02.00 today. Libre told me so. Realised that yesterday I had used my emergency biscuits so had to go through to the kitchen for something to raise BG. A can of sweetened espresso did the job. Must remember to replace the biscuits.

I was exhausted yesterday, after 2 trips to town, and went to bed before midnight. 2 hour sleep, but I went back to sleep in the big chair and only woke with difficulty about 07.00. Cold, overcast and reduced visibility today. I can see the mile to the edge of the bay, but can't see across the bay so viz must be about 11/2 miles.
