It can be very daunting at first & can feel overwhelming, many of us with T2 use a reduced or low carb diet to control our diabetes. It’s a big learning curve, take your time and have a good read around the forum. If you scroll down to my signature there’s some links there that you may find useful

Do you test you blood sugar levels ? if so what do you use finger prick and meter or a CGM ?

Hi and welcome.
There's a number of different ways of tackling this problem and I'd encourage you to have a read around on this forum - I'd recommend starting with the "Success Stories" section where you'll see accounts of what's worked for various people.
For example, I've no experience with medication at all. A (very) low carb diet sorted me out very quickly and has been effective for six years now. You'll see other people who've used medication to manage the condition. The key thing is that what we have is a long-term condition that needs to be managed probably for the rest of our lives - so short-term fixes might not be the answer.
The other thing I wish someone had told me early on? Forget all you think you know about what "healthy eating" is. For me, the "diet requirements" are as few carbs as possible - which is not what the official advice says. You have to find what works for you. Be cautious about anyone claiming that "this is what you must do".

I agree about doing your own research. And don't expect doctors and nurses to know about diet - they have no training in it, and unless it is a special interest of theirs, can be resposible for giving some very very bad advice.
