They are very bitter - but a good Placebo should match with a bitter flavour. I would not rely on taste to be certain !

Anyone on the Ascend Plus trial?

I haven't found the 14mg ones bitter, either. In fact, I thought at first that I must be on the placebo as they didn't have the bitter taste in the back of my throat, and it wasn't until I started feeling sick later that day that I thought I must be on the semaglutide! Never thought I'd ever be thankful for nausea!!! And the side-effects since then have convinced me that I can't possibly be on the placebo!
My blood sugar went up coming off the run in dose.

I have only just started measuring mine, more for interest than anything else. I get my hbAc1 tested once a year - I asked the nurse today (had a blood test for another reason) why it wasn't tested every three months, and she said if they got an anomalous reading they would, but as it was. But they never did, even when it was supposed to be through the roof. Oh well, it was normal last time they deigned to test it....

No I stopped taking the useless placebo
I am so upset depressed and disgusted by the way this trial was conducted. Knowing there is help available for T2 but unable to access its so depressing. I started on Ascend plus last year. The run in was fantastic, fasting glucose levels 6 to 7. I Lost 8kg on the initial run in trial. Only side affect passing wind. Then like everyone else here i was given the placebo. I knew day one my fasting glucose level 10mg. I was looking forward to 14mg but no luck. I tried the GP, NHS diabetic team they don't want to know. I wonder if this was some trial of the pharmaceutical companies to push people that can afford it to buy it privately as now it's available. But my chemist warned me there are a lot of fake semaglutide on the Internet, so scared to order it on line with prices so variable. Asked help the UNIVERSITY of Oxford Ascend team they don't care either so I stopped the trial.
I made it worst. As BMI is gone down and also the HBA1C now diabetic team told me I don't qualify. Where before the run in on Ascend Plus I would have been eligible. And they don't care about my depression.
