No stick glucose testers

Assume you're not looking at CGMs as a direct alternative to fingerprick tests?
Otherwise there are lots of gadgets advertised on the internet as "non-invasive" BG meters. People are usually advised not to waste their money. I've always asked people determined to buy one of these things to come back and tell us all if it actually works. Nobody ever has.
In addition, if there was actually tech like this that worked, don't you think the major manufacturers would be all over it?

At the moment I would be very cautious with anything advertised as a completely non invasive glucose monitor. There are watches, rings and other devices making claims about measuring glucose through the skin, but I would not rely on those readings for treatment decisions.
CGMs like Libre and Dexcom are probably the closest practical option right now. You still have a tiny filament under the skin, but you avoid most finger sticks and get continuous readings instead.
I do think truly non invasive monitoring will eventually happen. There is a lot of work being done with optical and other sensing methods, but getting something accurate enough across different people, skin types, temperatures and glucose ranges is much harder than it sounds.
For now, if a device claims it can measure blood glucose accurately without touching blood or using an implanted sensor, I would want to see proper regulatory approval and independent clinical data before trusting it.
