Levemir to Semglee..!

Has anyone else come across this as a replacement for Levemir?
I have never heard of it , but my GP practice has removed Levemir from my prescription list and replaced with Semglee.
This has been done without any consultation with myself..!
Thanks Mark

Can you ask to see your Dr or diabetic nurse about this even a phone call appointment

Levemir is being discontinued and is likely to run out by December. GP’s are generally just switching people automatically to a very similar long acting insulin (Semglee is likely the cheapest option) although they should really have notified you so as to not cause confusion.

Semglee is a biosimilar of Lantus.

With Levemir being discontinued, the only choice left is insulin glargine (Lantus, Toujeo, and the various biosimilars of Lantus), or Tresiba.

or Humulin i. Although technically an intermediate insulin it is also used as a twice daily basal.

There are a number of threads about the levemir discontinuation, eg

Hopefully your GP or pharmacist has at least given you some indication of dosage??? If not, I think you have grounds for an urgent GP appointment when you can also discuss whether you wish to try a different insulin...
