I've developed a longing for one of those big, old-fashioned tin spinning tops that you used to pump up from the top with the handle, and then they'd spin for ages making a lovely humming sound . . .

I used to love threading beads and still do it, only now I call it "jewellery making" and sell them as bracelets and necklaces

A big box of Lego would be a nice surprise . . .

From the list it would be the Teddy Bear X :D

I have two of my own from childhood, a walking talking doll ( with very straight legs , in the 60's) . I would pull the cord at the back and she would say " I do love you mummy" and " My name is Little Poppet" I adored her and fell in love with her straight away :D and later on, the Petite typewriter, I thought I was a Secretary and so grown up typing away, wonderful memories, I sometimes wish I was that child again

Best wishes RRB

As a child, the list doesn't go far enough back: maybe roller skates. Can't remember much before the age of 10, though my father won me a big bride doll at the fair and I loved her.
As an adult definitely Dungeons and Dragons' original style and we still play Risk. Those are both part of my early twenties memories
Just looked it up on wiki, our D&D is a first edition, I wonder if it's valuable  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Editions_o ... 26_Dragons
.Today our favourite is Carcassonne, not on the list but a game that can be played by adults but also enjoyed my our grandchildren.(NB why does the spell check on here discount British spellings; favourite is correct)

My teddybear from my childhood was called 'Rosie' and played brahms lullabye .
My mother has still got her and the music STILL plays too . :)

I have kept my own daughters steiff teddybear 'Molly' she sits in our daughters old bedroom :)
Memories of our past and childhood stay with us all .
So for me - it would be a teddybear

My godfather bought me a Steiff monkey for my first birthday . . . 22 years later my mother gave poor Jacko to the bloodhound puppy. Sadly he didn't survive that . . . I have never forgiven her.

The moral of this story is, take your monkey (or teddy) to University with you!
