This landed on my husbands desk at 5pm last night !
[He is a nuclear medicine specialist ]
As it was very relevant to any diabetic using an insulin regime - he alerted me to this .

Hence why I have placed it in the forum as an 'announcement' to catch ALL members attention .

Included : out of hours phone help line numbers also - [ given its a weekend amongst us all now ]
It is important to do this in such a insulin pen/cartridge batch recall event as this .

Thanks Anna .

What do you mean 'too much or too little' ? Do you mean they're not 100U/ml ?

Mike.

Hello mike .
This is easy enough to explain and clarify .

The liquid quantity of fluid should still be 100U/ml but its referring to the possible incorrect
strength of insulin inside each pen/cartridge .
The too much or too little insulin quantity refers to the strength of insulin in either of the pen
or cartridges within the recalled batch numbers .

Hence how/why the recall has been required .

If in any doubts please vist your GP/DSN/Chemists for their professional advice .

Hope this will reduce any confusion for you .

Anna .

Hi.
What a rollercoaster of a week with this monumental problem with Novomix 30. $ massive hypos folowed by 2 highs inbetween. took 1/2 dose and sugars went from 17 to 5.3 in 60 mins. finally sorted and back to normal before sunday lunch. On a more serious note what if someone was driving and had an accidrnt who would be to blame ? the person or Novonordisk!

Wanting some advice on this issue please. My dad had a serious hypo back in July, and my mum was advised by paramedics that if she hadn't found him at 2am slumped over and unresponsive, it could have been fatal. He was admitted to hospital, where he continued to receive his own insulin (Novomix 30) and continued to experience hypos. Eventually his insulin was reduced from 70 units. We have today discovered that his insulin was one of the batches that has been recalled. He has also had serious heart issues this year and i wonder if this too could be related to the continued overdosing of insulin.

I think this is a serious issue and should not be swept under the carpet by manufacturer. What can be done?
