She's now not sure about me going on it got to have a talk either that or could be insulin not sure I want that got to think long and hard got to alter diet very bad

Victoza works well for about two years before side effects kick in.
If you are worried about needles there is available: Novofine Autocover needles where you don't see the needle. I use them because I have a needle phobia.
Another option is to go totally vegan.

I started on insulin and gained weight. They switched me to tablets but couldn't tolerate metformin. Then they put me on victoza and my blood sugars lowered and I lost about a stone and a half from 14st 7lbs, but then I started to be sick. Now through my own research I decided to go vegan and have lost a further stone my blood sugars are an average of 7.

The choice is yours not your doctor/nurse
