an idea for looking for a bike. Look on Google and see if there is a Freecycle group close to you. It's a system by which people find new homes for stuff they don't need anymore. I've given away loads of things, from a large freezer to several sacks of clothing and some paperback romance books. I have received a pram, a high chair,a fireguard and other things I need when my baby granddaughter visits.
Bikes, perhaps needing some attention are quite frequently on offer.

Poverty, violence, manipulative or materialistic people and too much bad weather such as wind and rain.
I've started walking and jogging a lot recently. I'm hoping I can do enough but not too much and manage to incorporate exercise into my daily life for the long term. Ideally I would like a partner for tennis etc. but people I know and socialise with are mainly into drinking and not exercising :-/

I've started increasing the amount of walking I do. when I get the chance Igo out for the day exploring new places with my camera. If I've only got a couple of hours it's a visit to the local zoo or living museum. The steep walkway at the zoo is really good for a workout!! The photos are pretty good too...if I say so myself!!

I know exactly how you feel!
I am about 5'8 and am starting to climb up to the 12 stone mark - although I dont look much bigger I definately am and I feel bigger. I was going tot he gym 3 times a week and burning up to 500 calories a day, eating less and better and do you know what I put weight on!!!
I eat salad for lunch pretty much every day but really dotn want to cut out carbs as they are my favourtie thing to eat - hence why I was working so hard at the gym. I used to be 10.7 stone and want to get back there!
I am so frustrated with it all!!!!

Hey gilly,

how is the Black country Museum development going? Must get over there some time soon. Haven't been to Dudley Zoo for years but did have an office overlooking the giraffes when I worked at the college!
If you ever fancy coming over to Kinver give me a holler, I enjoy using my camera too and find it a great excuse to go out and walk.

I'm just getting back into photography actually. My boyfriend got me an SLR professional camera. Once I figure out how to use it, it might be a wonderful excuse to go walking. Actually I've been walking a lot recently because the weather has been fantastic where I am. It's just when it gets soggy and windy I don't wish to go out at all. Guess I'm just going to have to push myself though. I've not long got a Wii Fit, although expensive it does help me a lot also. It's quite handy for when I get home too, it's just keeping going and keeping motivated that is the problem with me I think.

Hails, hang in there I'm sure we can both figure out a type of routine or something that would enable us to shed the pounds hey? :)

Hello all. I'm learning alot since being told by my doctor I am diabetic. It was April 1 when he told me and I weighed in at 17st 10. I stopped eating "rubbish". I have max 1 take away a week. I haven't touched alcohol. Excercise wise I have been briskly walking to work a few times a week a distance of 5 miles. Now 8 weeks later I am a dead 15st. I'm kind of hoping that this weight loss is down to my "diet" although until I read this forum never realised the connection between insulin and weight loss. If I understand correctly the less insulin i produce the more weight i will lose? I have to see my GP this week for more blood tests. I have assumed that I am Type 2 because he but me on tablets and not insulin although the last few weeks i have been feeling really unwell and have felt "the need" to sit down on more than one occassion. I have been itching uncontrolably (i put down to a side affect of metformin) and constantly felt sick. My concerns have since been raised by being told in the forum to go to casualty!! Anyway on the diet front i have found that being diagnosed diabetic gave me a bick kick up the bum and what's really needed is bags of will power! I wish everyone well.
