Pin and Needles - how long to go

I am a vegetarian and I love carbs. But I adore cauliflower rice and courgette spaghetti and would choose them over the real thing. Diabetic about 6 years. Only admitted it when the pins and needles were spreading. I was (am) overweight but was fairly fit. I lost weight and upped the exercise...

Pin and Needles - how long to go

Yes, @Avocado Sevenfold is right. It was me. I had them for ages, didn't really know what they were thought it was some sort if RSI (too much time on the laptop!). I had not accepted diabetes at that time (still haven't!) It went within a few weeks, when did a low carb diet. I let things go...

New to the site and looking for advice.

You also need to look at what you drink. Carbs are everywhere! Are you over weight and can you exercise? We would need a typical menu for a day or two to give a bit of advice. Cara

    Newbie needs advise

Sweet potatoes and swede are lower in carbs. There is an excellent book called Carbs and Cals which is very enlightening. Exercise will help weight loss and also lower blood sugar in it's own right. Do you have much weight to lose? Cara

    Neuropathy

HAve you tried low carb? I had mild neuropathy in my fingers and it cleared up in two weeks, after lowcarbing and stayed away. A month of gluttony and it was back. Not scientific but true Cara

    Low Carb Snacks

Atkins chocolate bars are low carb. There is one like Bounty. Freeze it and it last longer as it's harder to chew! My current favourite snack is Sweet chilli Philadelphia with celery YIu could make you own ice lollies by freezing diet Coke, sugar free squash etc

awaiting glucose tolerance test-already have chronic health issues :/

Hi Not sure how overweight you are but that can be tiring in itself. I lost weight and I feel physically much better. Which really surprised me because in my head being over weight was much more about appearance than health. Cara

    hopefully, better for life

If you know what you did wrong then that is half the battle. One mouthful of food at a time! I used to think, oh I have had XX (naughtly thing) to eat now. May as well eat some more. But now I just take it meal or snack at a time. My son's birthday today so I had chocolate cake. But I didn't...

Well done Sue! Perhaps you could post a bit about what you achieved and how you did it under Success Stories to give others some inspiration? It is worth the effort but hard to see it at the start. Cara

    Replace Orange Juice with V8

It would still contain quick release carbohydrates. Not much different to orange juice. If you want to lower your blood sugar, best avoid it. I avoid all juices and save my carbs/calories for food. I would suggest you have sugar free /diet drink instead.

    Fed up

I had tingling in my hand too. It was googling the symptoms that brought me here. When I started to low carb the tingling went away with a few weeks. Over December I had Christmas, Anniversary and birthdays and as I had done so well . I stopped being so good. Gained a stone back of the...

    Fed up

If you can get out and have a walk after a meal that may help, it seems like an old fashioned idea but it can work. Post some of your typical meals and people with chip in with a few ideas on how you can make them more diabetic friendly.

    Fed up

Have a look at Carbs and Cals - it is a great book on showing where those carbs are hiding! There will be some in the Shredded Wheat, the mushy peas and the chips. did you have any other drinks or snacks? Do you need to lose weight? can you exercise more? It is the overall picture you need to...
