    Libre help

Regarding swimming, this always loosens mine. I would not swim or have a bath while wearing a Libre unless it's close the finishing. Other people may have suggestions about better sticking though. Also I've found when it gets sodden, results may be poor for a while until it dries. N.b. I do...

    Can a Type 1 run a marathon at 50?

I think the poster is making the point that the OP is really looking for a confidence boost rather than official medical opinion. You can do it OP! :-)

    Already sick of this ...

I had a couple of nasty 'Lantus hypos' and would not use it now if I were to come off a pump.

    I need help

Repeating what a previous posters has said, get your thyroid checked out.

Likelihood of GD going away after birth?

The thing is, people posting here probably all have diabetes, those for whom it resolved are not hanging out on diabetes.co.uk :-)

    Already sick of this ...

Why not take your Lantus in the morning instead? That's what I used to do. I actually used to split it and have half in the morning and half in the evening for greater flexibility.

Type 1 and the menopause ... help!

I recently got a Fitbit Versa (actually to integrate with xDrip and show my blood glucose) and one of the interesting things I noticed was that my resting pulse rises as my hormone levels rise and then drops off again, with lowest resting pulse on week 2 of cycle when hormones are lowest. I...

    Can a Type 1 run a marathon at 50?

Well, I'm nearly 44 and do half marathons. The reason I haven't done a full marathon yet is nothing to do with my type 1, it's because of the time it takes to train for it. Go for it; if you're motivated, you won't regret it.

If you could pick your insulin pump, which one would it be?

https://www.diabettech.com/looping-a-guide/ This might help, Slog. You can loop with either of the Accu-chek pumps too using Android APS.

    Going from pump to mdi

Helen, for future reference, you can get half-unit pens, for the NovoRapid cartridges at least. They might be marked as for children.

    Night time horror

Previous posters have mentioned low blood sugars caused by Lantus, I would look into this a bit more. 2 of the worst hypos I have ever had have been from Lantus - if you accidentally hit muscle or a blood vessel when injecting, it acts like fast-acting insulin and can drop blood glucose very...

    NHS and Free style Libre

Yes. I was offered a clinic appointment on 1st April, where I was given a letter for my GP to prescribe it for me. So after 2 years of self-funding, I'm getting it on the NHS. Only thing is, I'm moving to a Medtronic pump soon and would like to try the sensors... Fat chance! :-) This is in the...

How many times does everyone check their glucose levels every day?

I am on a pump and use a Libre sensor and xDrip+ software. I test about 6 times a day, prior to the Libre would have been around 10-12. I'm quite a busy person, I drive every day and am often driving kids, also I exercise regularly and eat different things every day. So that's what works for me.

Type one “getting to me” after 13 years

Hi OP. I think having a bout of burnout is not unusual after getting a CGM for the first time and seeing how well you're *really* doing. I certainly did. It can be both motivating and de-motivating. I would say, try not to be too hard on yourself. You say you vowed not to let diabetes ever stop...

Testing with the Libre - Changes in the rules for driving

Have to say, I'm a bit worried about this. I have had scenarios where the Libre has read 5 (yes, 5!) mmol above the actual blood glucose level. I don't have hypo unawareness, but I probably wouldn't be able to differentiate between 5.5 and 4.5 just by the way I feel. Obviously the trending...

What to do? New insulin regime

Why don't you keep your stuff by your bed, then you can test and inject as soon as you wake.

Type 1 I Feel Like I Speak About Diabetes Too Much

Being diagnosed is a big shock and it runs your thoughts for a while as you get used to it. Try not to worry too much, your true friends will tolerate it, just as you would tolerate them talking a lot about a new hobby or partner. After a while, you will have noticed what works and what doesn't...

    Slimming world and Type 1

I've been doing Slimming World for a few weeks and have lost half a stone. I've found it pretty easy and not felt hungry. I think too much is made of the 'free food' aspect - as diabetics, we already know to be sensible about carbs, there's no magic wand that means you can suddenly eat loads of...

    Contour Next One

I really love the meter, by the way and find mine to be very accurate compared with my Libre and also xDrip+ software.

    Contour Next One

I have a Contour Next, but itsi not likely to be funded long term as they are having a big push in my health authority to get people onto basic (cheap) meters so they can provide greater funding for the Libre.
