    Why has my hair changed

I started an insulin regime 4 weeks ago and I have noticed the same issue with my hair, I think it's just our bodies and hormones adjusting. I wondered if it might even be connected to thyroid function in some way? Other than that I feel so much better on insulin that I can live with it :)...

    Questionnaire for a school project

Gender: Female Age: 49 Race: Caucasian Type: Type 2 with insulin Age when diagnosed: 22 Cause: Pregnancy, genetics (significant % of my grandma's descendants have it, including 10 of her 12 children and most of their children)

    Testing before meal

I think I would, just to put your mind at rest. She does seem to be taking a strange approach. Are you eating the same amount of carbs every night? Has she told you what to do with the reading you take before your meal? @noblehead , you are more expert than me. Can you help?

    Testing before meal

Has she told you how much to inject each meal and how to work it out? I think I'd test before and after if I were you, at least until you are happy with what you are doing. My Fitness Pal lets you log all your food and work out how many carbs you are eating. The link below is a good website to...

    Testing before meal

The test before your meal tells you whether your basal (long acting) insulin is working well. If it is you should be between 4 and 7. If you are taking fast acting with meals then the test afterwards will tell you if you took enough insulin to meet the carbs in your food. That should be less...

I wouldn't hold your breath if I were you!

    Reduced Basal Insulin Needs?

I've had to reduce my basal as I've reduced my carbs, but again I'm not type 1. As you say, you will have to mess about until you find the right balance for you. Good luck!

    Reduced Basal Insulin Needs?

I saw a calculation on here of 0.53 x your weight in kg as total insulin, both basal and bolus. Hope that helps x PS I'm taking less than that calculation would work out (about 10u less per day), but I'm type 2 so probably still producing some insulin. Similarly if you had a very active job...

Hello everyone - Type 2 with insulin

Hi and welcome. I'm a newish member here too, it's a good friendly place :)

EU - In or Out + Poll.

It's the educated university graduates who are probably more mobile and sought after by Canada and NZ

EU - In or Out + Poll.

New Zealand and Canada seem like favourites. As I said above the problem is that it's not like a general election where you get to vote again in 5 years time, it has an impact for a whole generation.

EU - In or Out + Poll.

I have no idea if the outcome would have been different, I honestly don't know if those percentages of voters are correct. The problem is that it's not like a general election where you can accept the outcome, knowing that in 5 years time you can vote again. Look what happened to the Lib Dems...

EU - In or Out + Poll.

I hope the young and talented don't leave too, but I see and hear my children and their friends already talking about it. It seems they don't identify with an England that they suddenly see as jingoistic and inward looking, rather than inclusive and outward looking. They are horrified by Farage...

EU - In or Out + Poll.

I saw that too. Interviews on BBC breakfast this morning with people celebrating "getting England back". That Little Britain mentality would be just embarrassing if it wasn't so dangerous.

EU - In or Out + Poll.

My older children, who are old enough to vote, feel very strongly that they have been let down by an older generation who won't have to live with the long term effects of what they have done. I can't help but agree with them.

Was it the right decision to leave the EU

I'm horrified and heartbroken by the decision. I have 3 children, 2 of whom are old enough to vote and they feel very strongly that they have been let down by an older generation.

    Levemir Injection Times

I take mine at 10.30 to 11pm every night and it's really had an impact on my morning fasting sugars. Before I did this they would always be the highest reading of the day. Definitely worth a try! Jo

    Type 1

That's really helpful, thankyou. I've just been given novorapid insulin to use with meals but with no other info, so that has helped me immensely!

Taking Legal Action against Drug Manufacturer?

Unfortunately in mine and Michele's case the effects of Forxiga meant that our blood sugars were low but we still went into DKA, very dangerous as easily missed by the medical staff. I had been chasing hypos all week, with no idea that I could be in DKA xx Sent from my iPhone using DCUK Forum
