I started an insulin regime 4 weeks ago and I have noticed the same issue with my hair, I think it's just our bodies and hormones adjusting. I wondered if it might even be connected to thyroid function in some way? Other than that I feel so much better on insulin that I can live with it :)...

The test before your meal tells you whether your basal (long acting) insulin is working well. If it is you should be between 4 and 7. If you are taking fast acting with meals then the test afterwards will tell you if you took enough insulin to meet the carbs in your food. That should be less...

I've had to reduce my basal as I've reduced my carbs, but again I'm not type 1. As you say, you will have to mess about until you find the right balance for you. Good luck!

I saw a calculation on here of 0.53 x your weight in kg as total insulin, both basal and bolus. Hope that helps x PS I'm taking less than that calculation would work out (about 10u less per day), but I'm type 2 so probably still producing some insulin. Similarly if you had a very active job...

New Zealand and Canada seem like favourites. As I said above the problem is that it's not like a general election where you get to vote again in 5 years time, it has an impact for a whole generation.

I saw that too. Interviews on BBC breakfast this morning with people celebrating "getting England back". That Little Britain mentality would be just embarrassing if it wasn't so dangerous.

My older children, who are old enough to vote, feel very strongly that they have been let down by an older generation who won't have to live with the long term effects of what they have done. I can't help but agree with them.

I take mine at 10.30 to 11pm every night and it's really had an impact on my morning fasting sugars. Before I did this they would always be the highest reading of the day. Definitely worth a try! Jo
