    Healthcare Complaint - advice please!

while I would usually defend fellow nurses, i'm really struggling here. My only thought was is your nurse a nurse prescriber? if not then she'd have to have a doctor prescribe the byetta so the GP would also be at fault. i think it's unusual that byetta was precribed in primary care anyway, most...

    hypers

for me it would depend how long after eating i realised that i had missed my bolus, if it was within 90 minutes i would just take the meal bolus, if it was longer then i'd do a correction. i would always do either, or, not both at the same time

    insulin pump

check out the pump forum, there are a few members here with pumps. you will have to meet certain criteria to be approved for a pump, but rememebr they are not a magic cure all, they take alot of hard work. are you on basal bolus now? carb counting? been on DAFNE?

    Know your rights!

what do you guys think about the recommendation there about transferring patients to insulin, looks a bit rubbish there to me, type 2's have to start once a day NPH and then go on to the evil mixed insulin. I don't know but I think that 3 months could be a long time for someone who have very...

    insulin injections - one handed

try looking up the innolet pen it has a big clock like dial to dial the dose which can be done one handed and then a big button to push down the dose. i think it would be fairly easy to use one handed. the only problem is it only comes with certain insulins, so it would depend what insulin she...

    is diabetes a disability?

it is covered by the disability discrimination act. so in terms of employment they need to make reasonable adjustments, and can't discriminate due to diabetes. Do you ahev an occupational health department? they should be able to help you and assess what can be done to help you, or if actually...

    Question for Type 1's....

anything minor I would try to sort myself or look to the internet and forums for info and advice. I'd then phone my DSN if I needed more help, she's very good. I wouldn't ever really go to my GP, we have a good relationship but int he 18months I've been with t he surgery we've never really...

If you did go on a mix then the insulins avalaible are the same as you can get seperatley novomix has novorapid in it humalog mix has humalog mixtard has actrapid

'HI' reading after hitting the gym

i have experienced big jumps in BG after playing football, i'd start around 5-6 and end up in the 20's, my diabetes nurse explained that i needed extra glucose for the exercise which was released into t he blood stream, but i didn't have enough insulin on board to move it to muscles so that i...

    finding a new GP

So the situation I'm in is I'm moving house so will be moving out of my GP catchment area. I've not had any real serious problems with my diabetes care (it took a few prescritions for them to sort me out 200 per time). So i don't want to now register somewhere thats rubbish. so I thought about...

    Insulin overdose

I have a friend who has tried to kill themselves a couple of times with insulin OD's but thankfully not succeeded. I actually found ODing on oral meds alot worse because they stayed in the system alot longer than insulin. Not expereinces I'm proud of and hope not to repeat.

    Needle Free Injections

I haven't seen it but I've heard the needle free injector is quite big and you can only put a single dose in at a time, so need to draw up insulin each time. I would say give injetcing a go, I didn't think I'd be able to do it, but it was surprisingly easy. and I still don't like having blood...
