How Do I Access My Notes?

Part of the diabetes.co.uk website that I only found once. But no longer relevant, as I now use a meter that allows me to average FBS, alone or along with other readings and to download to an associated computer program if I choose. Thanks!

Accu-Chek Connect vs One Touch Verio IQ??

    Good to hear, Leslie, thanks.

Accu-Chek Connect vs One Touch Verio IQ??

I've been using the One Touch Verio IQ since being informed I needed to bring my HbA1c down from 6.1% last June. Subsequent quarterly readings show that I have done so - at least somewhat (5.5 in Sept, 5.7 in Dec, 5.5 again in Mar). But I've had a suspicion that the meter was consistently...

Hurray! I found it!! How to start a new thread on the Forum!! Only took me half an hour......

Thanks, pleinster! I just figured it out. My problem is that I mostly visit the forum using the app on my phone, which doesn't show the green button. But once I realized that each forum has one that shows on my laptop, I went back to the app and did a thorough search - just out of curiosity I...

Hurray! I found it!! How to start a new thread on the Forum!! Only took me half an hour......

I too am trying to find out how to start a new thread, so if one of you could please tell me how, I'd really appreciate it. At this point, all I can do is "reply," so I hope someone reads this and replies with this information (I've requested email notifications of replies). Thanks! Maxine in...

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

Have you tried upping your intake of high-fibre foods like raw carrots? That, combined with daily walking (currently averaging around 12,000 steps) seems to be the best way to get morning readings well below 6, even with moderate carb intake. Also, I've learned to wait at least 30 - 45 min, or...

    Produgy vs Onetouch

Sorry I can't answer your question (I live in Canada), but I don't know how to start a new thread, and was wondering about folks' experience with the Accu-chek Aviva Connect and, more specifically, how it compares with the One Touch Verio IQ in terms of accuracy.

    BG & Porridge this morning

P.s. virgin coconut oil with everything, even in my coffee (with ground turmeric and black pepper). If the virgin stuff is too sweet for you, the "refined" version is tasteless.

    BG & Porridge this morning

I love porridge, but not the spike. For me, steel-cut oats have much less impact, even when I grind it in a food processor for 30seconds or so, so it's edible with 5 minutes of cooking. I typically add cut up apple and cinnamon and sometimes protein powder.

    Bulletproof Coffee

I drink what I call golden coffee. I adapted it from a recipe for golden milk, recommended as having anti-inflamatory action for arthritis. I put 15 ml (1 Tbsp) yummy virgin coconut oil and 5 ml (1 tsp) ground turmeric or cut-up fresh turmeric root (yellow haldi from an Indian grocery) in a mug...

    Where are we all from

Burnaby BC, Canada, next door to Vancouver. I spent a week in Cumbria a few years ago - Threlkeld for most of the time, and explored a lot between there and Keswick. Beautiful country! Even climbed a fell (Blencathra) - a bit scary at times, but well worth it.

    High Fasting/Low Post Meal

I really appreciate this information, kokhongw. I've been living in a bit of a fool's paradise recently, pleased that I could keep my FBS in the fives (with occasional dips into the 4's) most of the time by moderate Low-carbing and (crucially) a minimum of 10,000 brisk steps of on top of...

    What meters does everyone use

I guess I'm lucky. My doctor didn't prescribe anything except HbA1c testing ever 3 mo, so I bought strips (meter came free! ) and lancets. Then I discovered that my husband's Blue Cross (suplemental health insurance through his work ) covers 80% of the cost of diabetic supplies, prescribed or...

    What meters does everyone use

Wondering why you were advised to change from the One Touch Verio IQ. It's what I've been using since funding out I am pre-diabetic 6 months ago, mainly to track fbs, along with a food and exercise diary - plus occasional post-meal checks on suspect foods. Is it not considered to be reliable...

    Low Carb and Exercise!

After over 2 months of moderate low-carbing with little apparent lowering of FBS levels, I started minimum of 10,000 steps daily most days, and immediately started seeing readings consistently below 6.0. Have now added some running and hope to complete a 100 race Oct 30 (about a week after my...

    Sweet Potatoes

I've got to try that curry recipe! btw, you can also slice sweet potatoes thin (especially nice with the orange ones sometimes mistakenly called "yams") and eat them raw. Something like crunchy carrots.

    Prediabetes Need Tech Help!

Yesterday I entered 37 fasting bg levels on this site from my computer - it was on "profile" or "dashboard" and the heading was, I believe "readings." It was super and I was planning to do this on an ongoing basis, since it graphed my results for me. But today It has disappeared. So I...
