Poor sleep - Type 1 (LADA)

Wow! I could have written this. I have put my symptoms down to being a woman of a certain age but this really makes me think. I am (still) under investigation fir my strange atypical diabetes. No one knows what’s wrong, but may be genetic. Anyway, yes I was always a good sleeper. I recently...

    Getting a flu jab

Whilst I understand the point you are making, ingesting and injecting are very different for the body. One should not eat much tuna anyway because the heavy metals in it. It is also known that mercury and aluminium in some vaccines can pass the blood brain barrier.

    The signs

Diagnosed via a routine blood test. No symptoms that couldn’t be attributed to something else. Quite a shock... for me and my doctor!

    Change Required!!

Hi Emily, and welcome. You have come to the right place. You certainly have an addiction and perhaps a slight self destruct streak? Do you live on your own? If not ask for help and get them on board with your new way of eating (WOE). That will make it easier if you have someone constantly...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thank you. That’s very helpful. Yes she wants between 4-5 mol in the morning! Even when my Hba1c was 36, I never had a FBG that low.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Can someone tell me why FBG is so important? If it’s in the high side buy drops during the day for the whole day, is it that important? My DSN seems obsessed with it! Thanks

Type 1 underweight - how do i put weight on?

Before that I’d be really really firm with them. It’s such a faff to change docs. Sometimes you don’t get taken seriously unless you are firm. I’ve gone from no one interested in my condition to getting first class treatment. Somewhere in the middle would be nice! Good luck.

Please May we have a Mody section

Trying to find out more about Mody but it’s laborious trawling through threads via a search. Please may we have a separate section. I’m being tested but would love to find out more about this rare form of diabetes. [emoji120] thanks [emoji120]

Omg!! I can’t believe that. So much bad info there. Recommending vegetable oils too which are known to be inflammatory. [emoji849]

    Hair loss

There are a few threads on this subject. Check your feratin levels. Biotin and thiamine (b3?) can help. Thyroid problems and peri menopause can also trigger hair loss. I feel your pain it’s horrible x

Will I ever eat normally again?

I understand how you feel. Livlife bread (Waitrose and Ocado) is low carb and 3.8 per slice. They are tiny but filling and make the most amazing toast/sandwiches. Have your usual meaty meal but sub potatoes with cauliflower mash. My whole family eats it now. Roasted celeriac etc etc.
