What Hba1c level do you aim for?

@DEBBIESCOTT nice to come across another MODY! Do you know what time? I have the faulty HNF1A gene. Have you been diagnosed for long?

What Hba1c level do you aim for?

Thank you @Zhnyaka. When I was first diagnosed a few years ago, my Hba1c's always used to be in the 30's and 40's without much effort. However, MODY is progressive so I know I am now producing less insulin than I was. It's frustrating to see higher Hba1c's so I think more effort is required.

What Hba1c level do you aim for?

@Antje77 yes basal/bolus. Recently had the libre 2 a month ago which has been insightful!

What Hba1c level do you aim for?

Hi everyone. I just had my latest Hba1c result back which was 49 (6.6). My consultants are always very pleased with my numbers but after reading the average blood sugar results for this - I feel it could be much better. What does everyone else aim for? I realise this will be individual.

How to I deal with all this?!

@the-mental-one I was 27 and diagnosed with gestational, Type 1, then Type 2 diabetes before my consultant decided I didn't fit the Type 2 profile and tested me for MODY which was positive. Maybe you should look in to that! It's scary how quickly the years pass and the more that pass means...

How to I deal with all this?!

@the-mental-one thank you for your comment. My symptoms seem to have settled at the moment - still don't know what's causing them though! Is your gastroparesis caused by diabetes? I was totally making a guess (and hoping I was wrong) when I said I probably had it as I couldn't explain the...

    Anyone experienced something similiar?

Thanks so much @Mrs HJG I haven't had any x-rays other than a chest x-ray last year. I have even made an appointment to see a functional doctor in London next week to try to help me but it's SO expensive and I fear I won't be able to keep it up.

    Anyone experienced something similiar?

@Lamont D I'm not getting much help as everything is being labelled on the fact that I have diabetes. I've had well over 3 years of feeling unwell now and seem to be getting worse and worse.

    Anyone experienced something similiar?

Back in November 2020 I became unwell with neurological symptoms which quite literally occured overnight. I woke one night with a deep ache/pins and needles in both forearms and felt very fatigued, lightheaded, spaced out/brain foggy, had horrible headaches, one occassion of electric shocks...

Has anyone managed to reverse autonomic neuropathy?

@wilkosbabe can I ask why they said it cannot be reversed unlike sensory neuropathy?

Why is it taking my glucose so long to go down?

@DEBBIESCOTT nice to come across another MODY! I've got the HNF1A gene. Seems we are a rare breed!

Can you sleep through a hypo and recover?

@In Response interesting you said this as I did actually wake up feeling sick last night but didn't have any of my usual hypo symptoms so perhaps it could have been then. Definitely something to look out for!

Can you sleep through a hypo and recover?

Thank you for the replies. I wonder if it was a compression low as I've never not had hypo symptoms before. Interesting to know!

Can you sleep through a hypo and recover?

Apologies for all the questions recently - but this is new to me. Is it possible to sleep through a hypo and recover without intervention? This is what happened according to my libre - but I would never have known as slept through any possible symptoms! Bit worrying.

What does your Freestyle Libre graph look like?

Thank you @In Response I will remember this next time!

Why is it taking my glucose so long to go down?

So possibly carbs hitting the system too quickly, causing a spike before insulin can catch up? I took the insulin just before I ate - perhaps I need to do it some time before?

What does your Freestyle Libre graph look like?

@Smiter55 mine are similar to yours.

Why is it taking my glucose so long to go down?

You can cleary see where I ate dinner today and how long it is taking for my blood sugar to go back down! Only had the libre for 3 days but noticing this with almost every meal. Is it simply a case of not taking enough insulin?

Genetic diabetes anyone MODY - ABCC8? Looking for others to ask how do you manage it ?

Hi! I also have MODY, although a different gene mutation to you. I use a basal/bolus insulin regime. I was offered oral meds but I don't think the control is as good compared to being on insulin - for me personally anyway.

    Stomach issues?

No help sorry, but going through similiar to you. Nausea started coming and going after only 3 years of being diagnosed and 3 years on again I suffer with daily nausea, some bloating, upset stomach and heartburn. It's such a worry!
