Type 1 Do you have a disability? (Work)

I know very little about US employment law/practices, but my feeling would be to not answer, get through the interviews, then once they offer you the role , you declare it. If they suddenly withdraw the offer then you know they are discriminating !!!

    Craving

I’m not the only one!!! I’ve been on low carbs for some time now, but on the couple of occasions I surrendered to one of my wife’s cupcakes. The cupcake was really nice but the prolonged sweet after taste was awful. Not worth it!! [emoji38][emoji38]

    total frustration

Cutting meats and dairy, significantly reduces your protein and fats. I know the beans can raise these up again. But reducing them will increase your carb intake, which we know can lead to diabetes!! My suggestion would be to research gut microbes. There are drinks on the market which can help...

Need some help, a bit confused

What is your normal BG after you have breakfast? I have found that mine usually go up prior to my normal main meal, irrespective of me fasting or not. I usually skip breakfast but will have a light low carb lunch. This keeps my BG around the 5.5 average. But come 6pm my BG starts to go up and...

    Surgery and anaesthetic

I’ve been seeing my BG levels go up at the same time each day, irrespective of me fasting or not. My theory is that my body is anticipating that I’m about to have my main meal so dopes me up with glucose so that I have the energy to ‘hunt’. You probably don’t have the time to do much about it...

    Blood Sugar weirdness

I have had a similar experience…. I have only been diagnosed as T2 for a few months but I got myself a Libre 2 quite quickly so that I can get as full an understanding as possible of my BG. My general approach is low carb with intermittent fasting. What I have started to notice is that on my...

How do you use your Libre 2?

Thanks Antje77, that explains it. Shame it can’t send the actual value too, then. I assume it is a battery power thing which limits it then. The device clearly has the ability to read your BG on a regular basis, so the fact that it doesn’t suggest that it must be a power issue / limitation…??

How do you use your Libre 2?

Hmm.. I thought that the basic Libre 2 was not a CGM. From what everyone is saying, it sound as though it is?? Or is it being used with one of those adapters?

How do you use your Libre 2?

Sorry, I’m a little confused, not unusual for me!! I thought that the only way to get a reading off the Libre 2 was to place my phone near it after I have selected the option to ‘scan’ in the app. Having not used the alarms, at all, does the sensor, itself, beep if a trigger value is reached...

Had my consult with Endo, he said I was not a diabetic & would issue a letter to that effect

Back then, there was plenty of reason why people would leave school without A levels. Reasons which had little to do with intellect or cognitive ability. I’m sure most here can work out the reasons for themselves!!

Its all going to hell in a handcart

I also have a couple of element, although not as many as you, one of which was IBS. although not formally tested for, off the back of my symptoms my GP recommended I visit the NHS IBS dietary web site. Problem was that it recommended that I cut out all the food I like. So I tried a different...

Is a very low carb diet healthy?

That is an interesting technical point to consider, but the point still stands. If BG goes up during exercise than it must be because the body has released it from it’s reserves. From our prospective it makes no difference if this reserve is from the muscles or the liver.

Is a very low carb diet healthy?

Yes, exercising requires glycogen, so when you start your body starts to release what it has in storage to fuel your muscles. It gets these reserves from your muscles and liver, with your liver holding the bigger amount. So with a standard diet your BG levels will go up straight after the...

How do I do low protein plus low carb diet?

Excuse my ignorance but how do the liver tests relate to having to reduce your protein?

If exercise can result in high readings what should I do?

After years of sitting in front of the TV, when I first started on the cross-trainer my heart rate was also going crazy. At over 50 years of age, at the time, my heart rate was clipping 200!! I would guess that my average was easily 170+. I felt comfortable with my pace and effort but I knew...

    Low carb diet, ketone query

I would add, don’t limit yourself on just one person’s knowledge. Find a nutritionist too..

If exercise can result in high readings what should I do?

I also weight train. To me, it sounds like your pre-exercise carbs, taken the day before, are being stored in you liver and muscles. And this release is what you are seeing as the increase. My suggestion would be to reduce your pre-exercise carbs for a week and see what the changes are. Do you...

    Low Carb Programme -

Not sure what site you are in but I would always be a little suspicious if they are asking for that level of identification for a simple course. The only justification I can make for them is that they are making sure you are a British citizen?? But then why would that be important to them...
