    Quick question ....basal testing

Basal testing is when you don’t eat carbs for a few hours and test your BG every hour to make sure your basal rate is working properly. E.g. carb free breakfast at 7am, test every hour until 1pm when you can have normal lunch. You would then do the same for lunch and dinner on different days...

    New here...worried momma

Bless you both it’s so hard when they’re ill without this illness as well! Remember to continue with basal injections but you don’t need to bolus unless he’s eaten carbs. Keep an eye out for hypos if he’s off his food too. A call to your DSN may help, that’s what they’re there for [emoji4]...

    Quick question ....basal testing

Decaf coffee will be fine, you could even put cream in instead of milk if you wanted to. No drink will lower your levels but sugar/caffeine feee drinks won’t affect them at all. Good luck with your testing! I hate basal testing [emoji23]

    C section for first child?

You can’t plan how you’re going to give birth. Especially since you’re not pregnant and they don’t know how your pregnancy will be (how can they?!) I know diabetic women who have had natural births and diabetic women who have had c-sections. I went from them saying they would let me go...

    Ladies things (sorry blokes!)

Does anyone else’s visit from Mother Nature make your bloods run high? Mine are higher the week before and the actual week I’m on. What’s the solution?? Temp basal? [emoji30]

    Hypo treatments

Capri-sun was what I used to have when pregnant. 20g of carb in a carton. Also used to have orange juice cartons too, I think they’re about the same. Also agree with setting the temp basal earlier than when you actually need it. Good luck and congratulations!

    Pumps - totally confused

I don’t have a tubeless pump but I can honestly say getting a pump is the best thing I ever did. My control is a lot better, my injection sites have no lumps now compared to before and I feel better in lots of ways. It was slightly awkward and clunky at first but you soon get used to it. I’m...

can anyone help ? Worried mum of a type 1

Gosh I’m so sorry for you! We’re his blood sugars tested at all when this happened? It’s possible it could have been a mixture of blood sugars and alcohol but without knowing what his blood sugars were it’s impossible to guess. Hypos can make you seem drunk and can make you talk different...

might have to go on insulin

It will more than likely be injections that you have, I don’t know of any T2s with a pump, they’re mainly for T1. @helensaramay is also correct in saying that before a pump is even considered your diabetes team will have to work out how much insulin you need before you can go on a pump. You...

How do I reduce Ketones from low BG?

You can get starvation ketones if you don’t eat enough carbs. A good carby meal and plenty of fluids may help x
