    Carbs counting

Hi there. I can totally sympathize and relate. My advice would be to firstly get your basal and I:C ratios correct which unfortunately can be just trial and error. For me I found it best to eat the same type of meals not too high in fat or protein and to to test 2hrs later then 4 hrs and tweak...

    Dexcom users advice please!

Cheers for that actually thought of that but then sensor appears to stop transmitting after about 4 to 5 minutes and seems to start again after a few minutes of me patting the transmitter dry after getting out of bath hence me thinking it may be an issue of the contacts getting wet.

    Dexcom users advice please!

Hi guys just after some advice. Currently use Dexcom G4 linked to Animas Vibe and noted that whilst sensor is waterproof the pump fails to get a signal after a short time when submerged in water whist I bathe. Do you know of any recommended patches that would keep the sensor dry? Reason I'm...

    Advice needed please

I find the fastest way to treat my hypos are the very berry glucose drinks and only have carbs when back in range. Found if I ate biscuits or chocolates immediately following fast acting hypo treatment the b's rise was a lot slower.

How do you control your blood glucose?

As I'm on an insulin pump with dexcom G4 I manage by accurate carb counting, appropriate pe-bolusing and "sugar surfing" working well so far :-)

    Insulin Correction Factor

You should really wait at least 4 hours following eating to check your ISF this way as if you check any earlier you will still have insulin in your system for the food you have eaten insulin normally lasts around 4hrs ish. You may find the following link about basal testing from 'Mysugar' useful...

When is a "spike" not a spike??......oh that is the question!

Ouch...can totally sympathise... had very similar issues when on MDI and the only way i could manage that was through a few basal tests established that from waking, my DP rose my BS by approx 6mmol over 4 hours therefore as soon as i woke gave myself an extra 1.5 unints before breakfast which...

When is a "spike" not a spike??......oh that is the question!

Just curious what you guys consider to be a spike?? for example this morning for breakfast BS was 7.5 prior to eating.... pre bolused and ate when BS was trending down at 5.8 and checked an hour later.. BS was 10.1. At two hours following breakfast BS was 6.3. Would you consider the "spike" to...

    Insulin Correction Factor

Yes I'm lucky enough to be on an insulin pump due to me experiencing many hypos during the night and bad DP and also being fairly insulin sensitive. MDI and splitting my background insulin didn't work that well for me

    Another daft question!?!

    Carb counting/insulin dosing

First time I have a ham mushroom and cheese inlet I gave a small insulin dose and my b's levels crashed and ended up hypo. Now I never inject for omlette unless I have something carby with it or in it. I would personally air on the side of caution and if your only having a tuna omelette wouldn't...

    Another daft question!?!

Picked up my repeat prescription the other day comprising of 4 vials of Fiasp insulin and test strips. As the chemist handed them over she says "do you pay for your prescriptions?" My response was no.... I wish I did" chemist says "so you'd rather pay for them" I said "yes... If I did I wouldn't...
