Why aren't u using basal insulin? It's just as important as using ur bolus insulin. Your diabetes team should of advised u on the correct dose of basal insulin to take. If I forget to take my basal then my sugars will be around 20mmols all day even if I have lots of bolus.
After being on Lantus for 9 years I've learnt spilting the Lantus into 2 injections gives a better even coverage over 24 hours. 10 units at 10am and 8 units 10pm.
I used to have 20 units at night then would get hypos early hours of the morning and hypers in the afternoon/evening. Swapped to...
Know how you feel. I've had diabetes for 9 years now. Poorly controlled for the whole time. Got Covid in December then February found out I have Maculopathy. Now waiting to see the neurologist and my legs and feet which are a great concern to me. Unable to work or walk anywhere as I am in too...
I've been waiting about 5 years to get onto the Dafne course. I did a carb counting course years ago called something else. Didn't find it much help to be honest. I was recently invited to do the virtual Dafne course but unable to accept the dates. I will look out for the next virtual Dafne...
Bless you it's no wonder you are so worried. His treatment doesn't sound that good to me. Is he checking his blood sugars several times a day and making a record of it?
Best things he can do is adopt a low carbohydrate diet and eat much healthier keep testing and recording and make sure he has...
Sure there is many people with good suggestions for you. My opinion is snacks are a bad idea. I only eat twice a day sometimes once a day and I have a good appetite but my blood sugars are difficult enough to manage.
Ok thanks for your reply. Problems in both legs and feet so guess I will be there for 60+ mins. Impressed they are seeing me so quick. Hopefully get some answers quicker.
17 units of Lantus and roughly 4-10 units of Novarapid. That means nothing to anyone else though as we are all so different and have very different requirements and lifestyles.
I have been suffering from leg and foot pains for a few months now. After pestering the GP many times a referral went in for Nerve Conduction Tests. I will be attending the hospital in 2 weeks for these tests.
Has anyone experienced these tests?
What can I expect and roughly how long will I...
I used to eat Weetabix but it would spike my sugars to 18+. Might as well have a bar of chocolate for breakfast lol. If I go hypo then 1/2 a Weetabix which is about 6-7 grams of carbs works nicely.
Don't think it matters what machine I use my blood sugars are flawed whatever I do. Rather go back to checking my blood sugars 4 times a day and not knowing how bad they are in-between. Stopped caring now.
It's nice to know there is someone normal out there with vices. I do like a good drink and love my takeaways. Try to be good most the time but it's important to enjoy life too and not to be constantly counting things all the time.
