    Blood Type Poll

Yep, the type of diabetes would've helped greatly ... and if I'd done it in two separate polls (one for insulin users and one for non-insulin users) and given two choices only (are you CARB aware or do you eat carbs and not care, eg, haha) then we woul've even fitted most of the main blood types...

    Blood Type Poll

To be fair, guv, it's a fair cop - the "study" wouldn't stand up in butter, let alone court, just something I was interested in ... if it was going to be serious, then I'd probably need to quantify diabetic type, carbs by grammes, last hba1c as a ~"control" as well as making available all...

    Blood Type Poll

I did offer to do a body swap but unfortunately, nobody was available to do the procedure. It is the single worst feeling to see your kid in that kind of pain ... so glad it's (touch wood) finally done with now! thank you xxx

Are diabetics more prone to depression?

if it were possible to do a Bet Lynch impression online I would ... come to think of it, I have some cheetah print leggings upstairs ;) just off to grab a fab and shout from a doorway ...

    Metformin, a windy question

Being as several of us refer to metformin as metfartin, you will find that you're not alone!!! I get swollen abdomen if I abuse carbs, but whether that has anything to do with metfartin is questionable ;) All the best and welcome, Je mxox

    Blood Type Poll

BASIC ANALYSIS The results would seem to show that more people on this site use "moderate" carb diets rather than low or high. Low carbers account for 28% of respondents, moderate carbers 62% and high carbers for just 10% of the total. B types are evenly spread over their dietary choices...

    I am not losing weight!

Welcome to the jungle, sorry forum (GnR fan sorry!) KEEP AT IT! When I first went low carb, I stuck to it like glue and for a month, nothing - I was devastated as I'd read here all wonderful things about weight loss (as well as the tight blood sugar control) and it seemed so unfair. After one...

Are diabetics more prone to depression?

Diabetes, thyroid and depression, in my humble, non-trained, non-scientific mind are intrinsically linked ... I've suffered depression for many years on and off and at the beginning of 2008 was fiagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for which I remain on medication, however, since...

    MY IGNORANCE

The last doctor I went to see seemed to think that testing twice a week at random times was sufficient diabetic control ... I usually test first thing in the morning (to give me an idea of how to eat for the day "eat to your meter") if lower than 5 I can have slightly more carbs, if over 7 I...

    irregularities in readings

the makers of my meter allow a 20% variation on tests ... that's HUGE! if my BG is something I really don't expect then I retest, usually using same finger but new drop of blood, a gentle squeeze will usually draw blood not clotting agents ... some variation WILL occur in the same drop of...

    you know your diabetic when!

oh that was good ... I can relate to many of those pointers ... I forget that some people are actually a bit afraid of blood and often do my BG test on the table and watch people turn white *oooops* J/x

    Fallen off the wagon

Did I fall or was I pushed? Off the wagon ... that is? Nope I leapt like a flying squirrel into a VAT of wine ... surfing from roast potato to Toberline island and indulged fully in a week long self-loathing-style binge ... Have added 5 lbs *oooops* I wasn;t going to admit that, but honesty...
