    diabetes and chemotherapy

Jane, I am sure you are right about that but it did make me think about things. Yes, you do have many blood tests done during and after chemo so I agree that diabetes surely would have been picked up. My last appt with the Haematologist Consultant was last November and my next one is actually...

    diabetes and chemotherapy

I am recently diagnosed with T2 diabetes and I have just come across this discussion which I find interesting. I had 8 cycles of chemotherapy for a type of lymphatic cancer.. I finished the treatment just over a year ago now and I am pleased to say that I am in remission and on 3 monthly follow...

    Sore Foreskin = Ketones?

My wife always makes me soak my feet before she attempts to cut the toe nails. It does make it easier but my big toe nails are quite bad. I have to see the nurse on Monday so I will try to get referred to a chiropodist if that is what they are still called. Pete

Is there a link to chemotherapy?

I have an appointment with the diabetic nurse on Monday. I'll have a chat with her but I very much doubt she will have a clue. Thankfully I have my 3 monthly follow appt with the cancer consultant on 18th Feb. I'll certainly ask her then about it. My cancer was a type of lymphatic cancer so...

    Sore Foreskin = Ketones?

Many thanks for that. I can see all the logic in this now. Since my BG came down a bit my scrotum has been less itchy. One other thing. The nails on my two big toes are in a bad way. My wife always tells me off about them. They are very hard and discoloured and extremely difficult to cut...

    Breakfast

hanadr , Thanks for that. Pity about the apples. Obviously grapes would be even worse I guess. Any suggestions on fruit to eat? I also want to lose weight which was recommended I do. Will the low carb help with that even though I will eating more fats etc. Especially butter and cream! I...

Many thanks for that. I never realised that apples were a problem. I have only recently started to eat them. Pete

    Breakfast

Took the reading after two hours following my breakfast and it was 4.9 So obviously cutting out the carbohydrate and not having breakfast cerials seems at present to be OK for me. I am going shopping in a minute. I might try a pork chop or a steak tonight with either veg or salad and see how...

    A Restaurant

I had this reply a few hours after I resonded to their original reply. Looks as though they are interested. I think it would be a good idea for others to write as well. Maybe a moderator could advise whether or not this is on the correct thread for most people to see. I have pasted the email...

    A Restaurant

I contacted the Wagamama head office and told them about their claims on their site. I have pasted below the reply I received. I did write back to them recommending that they look into the carbohydrate content etc and suggested they use Shirataki Noodles in one or two of their dishes. I get...

    Breakfast

As regards the 'yolk'- I was concerned about cholestrol. I do take statins to control it so I thought it was best to reduce the risk. I could always use one natural egg and then add some of the egg white liquid to 'beef' it up a bit. I was very encouraged yesterday after my evening meal...

    Breakfast

I'll try that myself! I took my reading a couple of hours after my breakfast of two scrambled eggs and a slice of wholewheat toasted bread with a mug of tea. I was a bit disappointed that it was 7.7 Next time I will cut out the bread and add a sausage or bacon or something like that. I have...

    Sore Foreskin = Ketones?

Being as we are on something like this maybe I should ask the question I am embarrassed about. Inever imagined it would be connected to diabetes! My scrotum gets very itchy now and again. I have been using E45 cream that I had in the house. Helps sometimes but it does come back though. Any...

Is there a link to chemotherapy?

Thanks for the welcome. I am trying to approach T2 diabetes in the same way I approached the cancer. I am trying to educate myself without getting too bogged down in it all. When I understand what I am doing then I can take some sort of responsibility for my treatment. During my difficult...

    Breakfast

Many thanks for your advice and comments. At present I am not on any medication for T2. I am on atenol, statins and soluble aspirin daily. Been on that for years. I never knew about the problems you highlighted with cholestrol. I'll be aware of that now. This morning I scrambled two small...

Is there a link to chemotherapy?

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with T2. I have to say that I am not pleased with the way my Health Centre have handled it all and I have had to complain to my Local Health Board to look into. Such a shame to have issues with people you have to put a lot of trust in. I was sent for a GTT...

    Breakfast

I am new to all this so please forgive if I come across naiive etc. When I got up this morning rather late about 9am(very cold and snowy here at the moment) my Bg was 6.4 I was surprised by it being that high. I then had breakfast as usual and then tested 2 hrs later and stunned at a reading...

    A Restaurant

Hi lorna, That is exactly what I was thinking about the carb content as I have heard that is not good to have that in excess. Nandos we like so that is OK. Probably best not have the chips though, I guess. I never thought of Harvesters. Thanks for the tip. I wish these restaurants like...

    A Restaurant

Hi, The Wagamama Noodle Restaurant chain claim to have meals for diabetics. I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2. I was looking for a restaurant to take my wife for our anniversary that is symapthetic to diabetes. Could someone have a look at the link I have pasted and let me know what...
