    Advice on rapid-acting insulin.

The Somogyi phenomenon is an unproven theory with little scientific evidence to support it.

    2019/20 Football season

Arsenal and Chelsea? I've had the pleasure of watching York city beat them both at home in cup ties back in the mid 80s :p But yes the game's gone, sadly enough...:banghead:

    Type 1'stars R Us

Good evening, the bathroom is finished :) so a day off tomorrow and I'm tempted to go have a fry up in the morning and have a porridge free start so we'll see, I'm planning a sleep in but these days my bloods have a tendency to drop around 08.00 so I may wake and neck a couple of swift...

    T1 food.

Indian style chicken curry and back to rice as I've had a rest from rice during the lockdown. 4.5u Humalog now and I'd guess another 3u at supper. Broccoli, sugar snap peas & shallot hiding under the sauce with a poached egg too. :p

    Sugar level spike after breakfast

I've eaten ready brek before and I eat porridge now, I found the former to give me a spike but eat porridge daily left to soak the night before, I may spike just past 8mmols but find mid morning I usually need to eat some (10g) carbs to correct the drop I get, probably as the extra unit I take...

    Hypoglycaemia

I always have Dextrotabs at hand as once my blood's dropped I want it back at a safe level pdq, if say I'm on a slow slope downwards then a rich tea biscuit or a Kit Kat on a faster slope which takes me on to the next meal time, swimming/cycling I carbload and often use a 10ml tube of 'hypostop'...

    Gyms and COVID-19

I'm going back to the gym next week, ours is now requiring pre booking so I plan to just swim for the first couple of weeks whilst waiting to see if the weights room has an outbreak...

    Strange day of hypos

Absolutely no help whatsoever but similar happened to me yesterday whilst trying to finish my bathroom refit, I'm in my 36th year of T1 and cannot for the life of me explain why the day went so pear shaped. I'm suspecting bathrooms :p

    Type 1'stars R Us

Steady away Kev's riddled with hypos today, the consequences of reducing carbs and movement over a few months and suddenly increasing ones workload I'm thinking, anyway I've retired the power planer for a while as the last hypo snuck up on me and I didn't notice until my line started not to go...

Advice from British Nutrition Foundation :-(

As a means of prevention it remains very good advice. But you make a very good point in why naming 'type' matters.

Good morning with a waking hypo (2.4) but I've managed to put my t shirt on the right way round so it's not all bad :p finishing touches to the bathroom when I get moving but it's a slow start today :/ I've slept on my Libre arm and my hand was numb but is full of pins and needles now with a...

Change in Policy for Treating Diabetes

In my eyes diabetes care in the UK is the best I've ever known it to be both for treatment and accessibility.

    DNA Remembers

I've no complications yet and certainly wasn't a good working model for diabeticness in the early days that's for sure, there won't be too many leaving the hospital with a new diagnosis and insulin and put themselves in A&E within 8 hours simply as they told me to drink 'diet pils' and my mates...

Government Better Health Campaign is now active

In the early stages of the lockdown I was cycling quite a lot and was surprised at the number of cars simply delivering take away foods, the local pizza chain appears to open at lunchtime even which I found shocking as the body doesn't want those saturated fats soaking the carbs up at that time...

Advice from British Nutrition Foundation :-(

Very good advice I'd have said and funnily enough just the type of foods I've eaten for the last 36 years as a Type one :) Edit, but they've missed out porridge oats :banghead:

    Libre issues

I simply put a 'Tegaderm' patch over my libre and it never comes off (or hasn't done in 2 years) and I can put my Miaomiao over the top of the patch so when that falls off it doesn't take the Libre with it.

Good afternoon, or it would be if I didn't have a caulking gun in my hand :p I've done a classic earlier, I put a board down on the new floor to put a step on to reach the top of the tiles over the bath, but stood on tiptoe I managed to have the board slide back and whack me on the bath as it...
