What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I absolutely love it, I've gone the other way, I now compare ordinary farmed salmon against it as a standard, and find farmed very poor in comparison, less flavour, dry texture.

    Alternative to bread

I've found that a couple of slices of Vogels high grain bread hardly affects my BG, and it's really great. AFAIK though, it's only available at Waitrose.

Breakfast: Porridge with some walnuts, chia seeds and flax, with some forest fruits Lunch: Beef Stew Tea: Alaskan Wild Salmon and Mayonnaise with cavolo nero wilted with sesame oil, garlic, soy, ginger and peanuts and purple-stemmed broccoli. Couple of pieces of Green & Blacks 85% chocolate...

Does this sound ok for tea?

I'm assuming you're American as you've mentioned 'Bell peppers'; they're a gelatinous liquid form of bouillon cubes, I think they're a bit nicer tasting than cubes personally.

Does this sound ok for tea?

Just checked on a tin of tomatoes and it says 3.5g per 100g of carbs - is that considered excessive? that's only 14g in a whole tin, and that picture looked like it would feed 4. I'm new to this to genuinely surprised.

    Feeling a bit manic

So, I got my meter last week and BG has been between 5.2 and 7.7 every day since then. I've lost about 8kg recently on the blood sugar diet (I'm now just on LCHF) and I'm a couple of kilos short of a normal BMI now and dropping weight more gradually. I've been doing weights and exercise too. My...

    Cheat day

My wife and I are both low-carbing, she's not diabetic, just wants to get back to her svelte, pre-childbearing weight and fit in size 12 again. We don't miss most things, really, but went a bit mad over easter, because we had about 3 family parties. Typically everyone brings some hugely...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.2 this morning, from 5.3 before bed.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast: Bacon, Sausage, 2x Scrambled eggs, Grilled tomato, fried chestnut mushrooms. 2 slices rye/oat bread with homemade marmalade, massive cup of coffee. Pre-lunch snack: Pint of bitter, packet of pork scratchings Lunch: couple of bits of the grilled mackerel, salsa and some kind of thistle...

    Reversed Diabetes

You just need to rethink what forms a snack, or allow yourself a treat, but exercise it off. I'm on a Low Carb / High Fat diet, so have one of those little cheese portions or some nuts for a snack and Pork Scratchings for a treat. If I'm doing exercise, like the 30 mile cycle ride I've just done...

    Doc said I was stupid

I'm appalled by hearing of doctors behaving like this, I've never experienced it personally, I have a great diabetic nurse, we often have a brilliant chat about research and I told her I'd been on the Blood Sugar Diet a few weeks ago at our last review, in early March and had lost 3kg already...

    Non-organic chia, flax, etc

Is anyone aware of a source of chia and flax/linseed that ISN'T claiming to be 'organic' I find the whole concept ridiculous and meaningless regarding health and anti-human and elitist and refuse to buy anything labelled as such, however, it seems to go hand in hand with most health foods and...

    Food at the NEC today

We went there a few weeks ago, and found a wagon selling nice healthy salads as well as sandwiches, also, Subway don't specifically have salads on the menu, but you can have any sub as a 'Salad Bowl' - it's actually a fantastic bargain, you get a huge bowl of really nice salad instead of your...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Full fat Greek yoghurt with chia, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and half a grated apple for breakfast. Subway Chicken Teriyaki salad bowl for lunch. Just going to have Steak Fajitas - guacamole, sour cream, salsa, peppers, tomatoes, onions - going to go off message with a tortilla because it's...

    8 week blood sugar diet

Hi, yeah, I've had type 2 for a number of years and just reached the max effectiveness of Metformin (1500mg), so I thought I'd start taking more responsibility myself rather than relying on the tablets. My wife just wanted to lose weight. We started on it 8 weeks ago, for the first 2-3 weeks...

    PHD Diet Whey

I'd go with Torq's suggestion - if you're going to eat 200 kcal of protein for breakfast, there are much more interesting ways (no pun intended) to get it and you'll probably feel happier. A 3 egg omelette for instance. There's nothing magic about whey protein, though as it's boring as hell, you...

    new eatwell plate

I thought that the 'skipping breakfast is bad' was now exposed as a myth - you DO eat more at lunch, but not more than you would have ate in total. There was a pretty good study showing this, and none, to my knowledge showing otherwise, it was just 'well-known fact'...

    Aspartame - just for information.

Collective Evolution is a mad-house, it's full of crazy anti-science types and when they occasionally try to justify something by mentioning science, they're usually just Cherry-picking the one study out of 10,000 that supports their case. They do the same with their anti-vaccine stance, their...

Weird breakfast habits....what weird recipes have you put together ?

We like a treat for brunch at the weekends, and trying to keep it low carb, so we've been replacing the muffin in Eggs Benedict, or whatever bread we'd have with a kind of large, flat courgette bhaji, made with Gram flour and courgettes put through the spiraliser, some spring onion and lots of...
