    Freestyle Libre Hot Weather WARNING

You can also do the forms online, I emailed them at 10pm last night, got a response at 9am and less than an hour after I had sent back the questions I got a confirmation that a replacement is on its way!

    Freestyle Libre Hot Weather WARNING

Will try that next time! Having spent almost a year with one I've never had issues like this but really useful to get everyone's advice :)

    Freestyle Libre Hot Weather WARNING

I thought I had done but clearly not! Will be more vigilant next time. I think the glue is fine now but was not on top form straight out of the packet!

    Freestyle Libre Hot Weather WARNING

Hi all! Just replace do sensor and wasted one as it came straight off- the second one only stuck as I pushed it down. Think it might be to do with humidity, thought I'd let you know to be careful replacing them so you don't waste precious sensors! Will ofc be sending it back to Abbott.

    Managing at night

Basal testing/guesstimate and not eating up to two hours before bed so I know my bg is roughly steady before sleep! Means I only use a rare night to stay away for my diabetes and otherwise sleep well. If you can get your basal rate sorted overnight and then keep a steady bg for an hour or so...

    Type one and hba1c

Every time things go a little (or a lot!) off track I start with my overnight bg asmy focus. My reasoning is always I'm asleep so I don't worry but it makes up such a large chunk of your day it can have really key effects on hb1ac. Make sure your basal is correct, once you have that make sure...

    worst diabetes incident?

I once had a super speedy onset hypo (had pizza and doughnuts for lunch maybe not the best idea) and I tripped/ face planted walking home. My friend ran home to get my sister as she didn't know what to do, my sister gave me a carton of orange juice (which is my normal hypo treatment). As she...

    Holidays

If you do pack your bg into the hold you will need to take spare batteries as the freezing temperatures there drain battery life like nothing else! But do try and carry everything in hand luggage - always reassuring that you know where everything is if something does go wrong (bags lost/sent to...

    Holiday

Quick note - if you have a chance ask for an undated letter from your dsn or consultant (as GPS often charge for them). Undated as it means you can keep the letter and make a copy whenever you go away! My doctor suggested this to me so I have a scanned version saved on my laptop and can keep it...

    Libre sensor

You can always email them- unlike most customer service emails they always reply! As far as I remember there may even be somewhere you can fill in a form online to let them know your sensor has failed. Best of luck and keep us updated!

    Libre sensor

Keep hold of the sensor if it doesn't work as Abbott often ask you for the serial number and for you to send it back so they can check what the issue was. I've had three replacements as well as it's always been hassle free!

    T1D & marijuana

I think it'll be similar to any substances (alcohol included) that you'll want to be more careful as you won't be able to rely on how you normally feel to predict a hypo. Not sure about the science behind it but I know why people get hungry after a night out is due to 'low' blood sugars as a...

freestyle libre: ordering whilst in USA

You can download an extension onto google chrome to change your IP to the uk for example - or get someone to do it for you? The extension is called hola or something like that and it is free

    Love Letter to glucose tabs

just had a surprise hypo come on, my eyes went blurry and I could feel it was a fast one. I didn't actually have keys and was waiting for my boyfriend, I knew he was a few minutes away but not sure I could last. Sat down and two Glucotabs later, within a few minutes I felt better. So so amazing...

What's the lowest hypo value you're ever had?

I've had a few lows and so far only three hypos which I have needed assistance with - lowest hypo was a LO and numerically 1.3 on diabetes camp incidentally!

    Travelling.. help!

If you're in the U.K. It's worthwhile asking if you can get an insulin passport from your diabetes team. This is a credit card sized card with a picture of your insulin, the name and a bar code (which in theory means the pharmacy wherever you are should know what it is...? Not 100% sure...

    Clarithromycin, Levemir and hypos?

Clarithromycin has a warning in the packaging, can cause severe hypos (although this is a study done on type two). I took it for a week and didn't give bolus basically at all and ate to my levels as it was far easier than adjusting (for me anyway) and my levels were actually the best they've...

    Bg vs bs

just came to mind, I always read bs in forum posts the first time round as the extended explicit version making for some odd posts until I reread them! Not sure if anyone else does

    Effects of emotion

Hi @Lynz84 I always have higher blood sugars if I've been crying (even from films!) and I find my bg goes a little haywire with any emotional changes. When I've gone through periods of feeling low my control has almost gone out of the window, I found being more sensitive with smaller adjustment...

    Exam modifications for T1

Hello! Get in touch with the disability services at uni. They'll give you allowance to bring a bg meter and snacks into the exam and often 25% extra time in case you do have a hypo. They will probably send you for an assessment which is basically a half hour chat about your diabetes. You are...
