    injecting insulin in public

Good on you, Rachel. Don't worry too much about the jokes, either. I work for myself, but I spend a lot of time on one customer's premises and I have a duty to tell him if I'm likely to fall over as a result of T2. It's highly unlikely, but professional guidelines don't distinguish between...

    Time to rant at GP

Littlesue? I'm very new round here, but long enough in the tooth to know that "rage against the machine" won't work. Whatever the stupidity, you need to treat the NHS with soft-soap - even the most incompetent of them, and they're not rare. But they do gang up under threat... They don't...

    Time to rant at GP

To quote an old and long retired joke "Yesterday I couldn't spell "Practice Manager" - now I are one!" Save your breath; life's too short :D

    Newly diagnossed type 2

1 mile walk, 10 mins kneading? Know what you mean. Don't know what's working yet.. Funnily enough, after some beginner's luck, I'm having trouble getting a crust. I suspect the yest and will report back later - 'cos if I'm going to eat bread, I'd much rather it was "proper" than shop bought.

    Newly diagnossed type 2

Well, I don't know whether this is good advice, but I've decided to change slowly - so several local pie and sandwich shops have closed, and expect Hellemans' shares to slump. I've replaced the commercial offering with home baked bread (machine, I'm prepared to cheat!), lo-cal olive spread...

Late night snack - it's that time again

Can't quite fathom that - but it's late. I suppose half and half is out of the question?!

Late night snack - it's that time again

:D Cheese? That's bad for you, isn't it? Anyway, no unless you count lo-fat Philli (other brands, etc) - I thought I'd done well cutting down on that drastically.. Almonds, walnuts - right out of waldorfs, though - Ham, yes. Dried apricots and dates? No, I thought not.. T: Cheers...

Late night snack - it's that time again

Go on, what do you keep in your fridge for the late night munchies? I seem to be hungrier before bed than I used to be - and if I don't have something, I'll wake at about 3 and not get back to sleep. Right now I can see a bagel that looks as if it's on death row, but it's not ideal, is it? :?

To Low Carb or Not To???

Thanks, Denis. A little more fog lifts, things get clearer. All to believable.

    Newbee...........and need help with breakfast!

I've been cheated! I could have had the full metal breakfast all along, and I've been told to eat all bran! How wrong can you get?

    Hello, I'm Grumpy...

Tell me about it - mine's a retired pharmacist :? I haven't told her either. Way too much like hard work. It's a far, far better thing, etc! I'm waiting on Bernstein and the Carb Counter from Amazon, having drawn a big blank at Waterstones. Fortunately small dietary variations like that...

    Hello, I'm Grumpy...

Sorry, mate - having difficulty getting to grips with pages on the forum and missed your reply :? I think you're right about the lack of joining up the dots - see my first experience with nurse gwladys! That said, she seemed to know her stuff, but I felt she was constrained by "the script"...

    It was bound to come..

Re: It was bound to come.. "Meet the nurse..." Well, what an interesting day! (Warning, too long to be interesting, but therapeutic!) I learned quite a lot and am now the proud owner of a Diabetes Information Pack. It contains amongst other things a piece of paper for me write down my...

    It was bound to come..

Welcome Mark; Hi hanadr, Saw your very useful guide to metrics, h., thanks, very informative. A touch harsh on the quack, though. In fairness he did say I could knock the dose back if I felt rough, and work up again. I'll work up to exercise next week - I pulled my back getting on the...

    Secret life of a diabetic

Only just started, but yup, I resemble that remark, certainly in past endeavours if not this, yet. I'm currently thinking that I'd settle for being in control 9 or so days out of 10 and I should forgive myself the occassional indiscretion? And I suppose on those days I could eat what I want, too?

    It was bound to come..

Thanks, I'm just trying to skim round the forums and get my bearings. So much to take in on so many fronts. That aussie is impressive, but boy, he's prolific! Mind you, so are this lot. I've only got until Monday to get my story straight for Matron, and I'm struggling to find what to ask...
