Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Thank you so much to everyone for your comments! Was anyone given an 'pre pump' advice? Like do I still carry on as normal on Tuesday morning with injecting my levemir etc? Hoping to catch the Nurse at some point today to check too, but not always possible. x

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

I am definitely going to have a look for this book now. Fortunately I work just down the corridor from my Diabetes Team so I am feeling quite comfortable in the knowledge that help is very much at hand should I need it. And available on here from my lovely fellow diabetics! I love this forum :)

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Hello all, I have been a T1 for almost 22 years, diagnosed at 7 years old. I am due to start on an insulin pump on Tuesday after a couple of years of wanting one. I can't quite believe it's finally happening! I am hoping this will be the tool I've needed for a long time to finally get my sugar...

Hello all :) I may be attending the DAFNE course in a weeks time as a place has become available and wondered if anyone has had experience of this and also experience of asking employers for time off? Where do we stand with regards to having to take the week as holiday etc? Any advice greatly...

Extra unit to fix a high

I do it quite often if I've had a big meal and not enough fast acting insulin etc and it usually sorts me out. Though that's just me as I always say I am not an expert :/ Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Intense workout, hypo hours later...

I'm not an expert by any means but a similar thing happened to me when I started the gym, always a hypo the next morning! I reduced my basal insulin slightly and it seemed to help. Though of course I am not a specialist nurse or anything but its something to consider if you are comfortable...

    currently in hospital....

So sorry to hear you are having a rough time at the moment. I completely understand as I have done a similar thing before. I hope you get better really soon! Can I ask what insulin you take? When I came out of hospital at about 17 years old after stopping taking my insulin and going into DKA...

    Insulin pump

Hi Fiona, Thank you so much for your response :-) I don't think I have seen any negative points about the pump at all yet. So having a pump means you can still be quite flexible with eating/drinking etc? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Insulin pump

Hello all! Been a T1 diabetic for about 19 years and having never had great control (not for want of trying) I have been pondering the thought of going on a pump? Especially knowing that in the future I am going to want to try for a baby. My most recent HBA1C was 9.6 so I think it's unlikely I...
