    Very high Dawn Phenomenon...

So for the last week I have been getting really high Dawn Phenomenon. It's starting at around 2 - 3am and I'm going from around 7mmol right up to between 16 - 20mmol! I wake up at around 6ish and always correct it. I have the libre and I can see its happening like clockwork. It's a big rise...

Still having trouble with spikes after eating no carbs...

Just to update - I have been changed on to Tresiba and Apidra. I have just started the Tresiba this morning so hopefully it will keep my basal rate steady. I have been reading up and I know it takes a bit of time to settle and will need tweaking but fingers crossed! I used to take Abaseaglar...

Still having trouble with spikes after eating no carbs...

But it's not fine to spike so much after eating is it? It's the spikes that do the damage.

Still having trouble with spikes after eating no carbs...

Yes I mean working on taking it at different times so earlier depending on food and my current BG. I am on the not so Novorapid- I asked my DSN if I could change to Fiasp but apparently in Cornwall they only use it in pumps or if you are pregnant... I asked what the alternative was and she...

Still having trouble with spikes after eating no carbs...

I dont think my ratio is out - if you look at the graph on my libre I'm back to good numbers, if I gave more insulin I would hypo after meals. I think I'll work on pre bolusing more and see if that helps.

Still having trouble with spikes after eating no carbs...

Yes i do split bolus for some meals. I'm happy that I'm using the correct amount of insulin for this meal because my BG came back to a good number a couple hours after ( see pic )

Still having trouble with spikes after eating no carbs...

I do pre bolus - and wait for my line to go down, as said in my previous post. It's a very fine line because my BG starts dropping so my insulin is working but the food can take time to impact so if I wait too long I will go hypo while I'm eating or just after. When I've done some testing with...

Still having trouble with spikes after eating no carbs...

I said further down that there were carbs in the meal. Zero carbs would not make any difference, I still need to inject for anything I eat. Nexus6 you are not Type 1 are you?

Still having trouble with spikes after eating no carbs...

Thanks. Sorry, I know I had carbs - just forgot to change the header... Definitely injected, waited until my libre line started going down. I had the same meal last night and had a small spoke ( within 2 mmol) I guess I cant even have 20g of carbs before the evening then. I'm so ****** off at...

No worries, more than happy to answer questions if it helps someone No 9 is not usual, I had an Indian for dinner at about 8pm so was higher than usual because of that I expect. I had to correct at about 2am aswell Yes I bolused for the toast and for half the protein in the eggs. I have to...

Struggling to keep BG down in mornings...

An update - I woke up at 6.30am and was at 9mmol. I took a correction dose and enough to cover my breakfast. I stated in bed for about 10 mins then got out when my BG started to drop. I dropped 4 mmol in an hour and eat 1p slice of toast and 2 boiled eggs. My BS went up from 5.4 to 7.2 and...

Struggling to keep BG down in mornings...

Sorry but you have kind of contradicted yourself there...you said that DP happens on a schedule and always hits you at 5.10am each morning. As I said, I stay steady overnight then spike once I am out and moving around regardless of the time of day.

DP starts around the early hours of the morning, which is why people wake up with high BS. I dont have high numbers in the morning, quite the opposite sometimes.

Struggling to keep BG down in mornings...

It definitely isn't DP. I could get up at 6am or 10am and my levels will be steady and low. It only happens when I start moving.

Struggling to keep BG down in mornings...

It's not Dawn Phenomenon as I'm steady overnight and dont start going up until I'm out of bed and moving. I split my basal - I take 14 units when I wake ( approx. 7am ) and 10 units around dinnertime ( 6.30 - 7.00 ) I did think about splitting dinner in half so 5 at dinner and 5 before bed so...

Struggling to keep BG down in mornings...

I get foot to the floor Syndrome when I wake. I take insulin before I get out of bed but I am really struggling to keep levels down in the morning. It seems to take aaaaages for my not so Novorapid to kick in and as a result i cannot eat breakfast or anything before lunch as I will spike.. I...

BG going up 2 hours after eating...

Today i had a ham salad brown bread sandwich for lunch. I took my insulin then went for a 20min walk. My arrow was pointing straight down on the Libre so I started to eat. I took the correct amount of insulin and my BG rose from 5.3 to 7.5 after 2 hours. Then I checked 30 min later and it was...
