Has anyone experienced going into natural labour?

I refused induction as I couldn't find any up to date figures and facts as to why it is so much safer and better apparently. I went into labour naturally at 40+2. I was monitored every day from 40 weeks onwards. Baby came via emergency section at 40+4 but that's was a different issue we had and...

    Pregnant and aspirin

As @quintel says above - it's to prevent pre-eclampsia and is just a very low dose. I have been on it for almost all my IVF cycles from the moment I started treatment and during my pregnancy in 2016. It's totally fine :-). Good luck! xx

    Terrified of number 2!

Don't be terrified. I think if you are older than 35 you are considered a high risk pregnancy anyway. I think it's rubbish. I had my first with almost 39 after 3 rounds of IVF. He's 17 months now and we're planning going abroad to cycle again in a few months. I'm 40 now. Would you have the...

Why are T1 diabetics 4 times more likely to miscarriage....

I totally enjoyed it - every single second of it :-). I can't wait for it to happen again! xx

    Induction: what is it like?

OMG I so totally agree with everything you said. I was 48hrs in labour but well informed about every single thing and working with the team looking after me and deciding stuff on my own. I didn't have a sliding scale either as I wasn't keen on someone with not much knowledge controlling my...

    When did you get induced?

Totally agree and if you are lucky you have a good team around you supporting you with your decisions! Good luck! xx

Any teachers out there had time off for IVF?

It starts ruling your life and everything in it and I am glad I gave my IVF 100% priority over everything else as that was what mattered at the time and it eventually thankfully worked out. Saying that I have had a lot of support from my work but if it had been the opposite I would've handed my...

    Steroids and basal dose

@paulliljeros Good luck with adjusting your doses! I was quite surprised how much I eventually had to increase all my insulin - it was a good bit more than I expected. Luckily with a CGM you are able to keep a close eye!

Any teachers out there had time off for IVF?

@Little My Sorry I can't help with your question regarding your new sickness & absence policy but just wanted to say I hope your IVF cycle went well and you got some nice eggs that fertilised well. I can tell you that I worked in education in 2015 and went through 3 cycles, 2 of which I didn't...

    Metformin

Hiya! I was put on metformin years ago and felt horrific for the first few weeks - I felt sick (and was sick regularly!) for a few weeks and even Christmas dinner prepared by my parents came back up again as well (sorry for TMI). I didn't have any constipation but just remember this horrid...

    Steroids and basal dose

Hi Paul! I was on steroids for a while due to IVF treatment - it was a fairly low dose at 20mg/day though. I was advised by my DSN to increase my basals by 40%. It wasn't good enough. Over a couple of days where I carefully monitored my sugars I increased all basals by between 60-70%. I...

    Fragmin?

I had them too. I went through IVF so had to take them from the moment I started treatment til 6 weeks after giving birth. I didn't enjoy them but it was all for a good cause as I have a blood clotting disorder (Factor V Leiden). xx

    New baby-struggling with blood sugars

@Serenede Congratulations on the birth of your little boy! I can second what everyone else already said - I have had a son in August last year and struggled big time with sugar levels after having near perfect control throughout pregnancy. It will get better and easier for both of you! Give...

    Dexcom/CGM in labour??

I can't advise about a CGM I'm afraid but I was wearing a libre all through pregnancy and also labour and following emergency section and it was invaluable cos we could just quickly scan and knew what was going on. I'd recommend having your CGM on. It'll make it easier I think. Good luck! xx

Type1 trying to conceieve for 5 years

@Soapsuds86 So sorry to hear what you've been through. IVF is certainly the rollercoaster that everyone describes it as. I have been through it as well 3 times. In 2015 I was told that I had only a low egg reserve left and we had a male factor as well and chances were that we needed donor eggs...

Hello intro and thinking about pregnancy

Hi @VKM40 and welcome! I am 39 (40 in Nov) and had our son last year in August - he was the result of our 3rd round of IVF (I had one baby out of the 1st round which I sadly lost early on and a failed cycle afterwards). I met my now hubby when I was 30 already and we said we'd like children when...

    Going abroad?

I went to Germany to attend my sister's wedding at 35 weeks last year, it was fine. My diabetes team was terrified but I got the okay of my obs and she wrote me a letter "fit to fly" which I actually needed to show at both airports, UK and Germany. Enjoy your holiday! x

    Type 1 and planning/having a family

Hi @tia_ and congratulations on your pregnancy. Diabetic pregnancy is as everyone says hard work but perfectly possible to have a healthy normal weighing baby :-). I had my boy last August weighing 8lbs5. My pregnancy was easy peasy to be perfectly honest and as you I was scared of a bad...

    Pregnancy and ketones

How are you this morning @Scarlet10 ? I hope you got sorted. I got admitted with DKA last May when I was about 27 weeks pregnant and it happened all very quickly. My pump wasn't working but it hadn't given me any error message so I only noticed that sugars were rising steadily and I couldn't get...
