Metformin

Hey everyone, I have been put on Metformin (500mg for the first week then 1000mg for another week etc). My consultant said that there could be some side effects with taking them, e.g diarrhea, stomach upset etc but after a couple weeks they should subside. I am just wondering if anyone has become constipated on them? I've heard a lot of people get diarrhea but that doesn't seem to have happened with me. (Sorry if that's to much information). Otherwise taking them I haven't had any other issues and my blood sugars have been better but I have also split my Levemir dosage to morning and night. So could be either or both that have helped. Let me know how Metformin worked with you, if you got side effects and which ones. Thanks.

Hiya! I was put on metformin years ago and felt horrific for the first few weeks - I felt sick (and was sick regularly!) for a few weeks and even Christmas dinner prepared by my parents came back up again as well (sorry for TMI). I didn't have any constipation but just remember this horrid sickness feeling that lasted a few weeks. Hope you get used to it quickly! xx
