    Rickets???????? Usually the advice that first comes our way is dire. Your meter will tell what you can eat and what you can't. I wouldn't follow any advice from my surgery. Edit to add, check the link in my signature.

    Welcome :) Personally I found the recipe book too high carb for me. Another brilliant book is the diabetes Code by Jason Fung. If you tell us what you eat in a typical day, we might be able to give you some pointers. Have you got yourself a meter?
