Type 2 Advice on if medication is required

May I ask how long you have been managing yours by diet alone? I thought T2 can be progressive so even though diet may work now ok for a while but most people have to go onto medication or insulin after X amount of years? I’m hoping that’s not always the case? Hence why I want to stay off...

Type 2 Advice on if medication is required

Thank you!! I’m positive I will. I’ve just signed up for 10,000 steps per day throughout March to raise money for Cancer Research so will be doubling my exercise throughout March. I think she is over prescribing - the highest I’ve ever been is 51 and I would have got it lower this test only the...

Type 2 Advice on if medication is required

Thank you- example of today, I had roast chicken today with 3 small potatoes and a pile of veg and my test almost 2 hours after was 7.3 (6.3 before tea). Most days I have virtually no carbs but prob 3 days a week I’ll have bread or potatoes. When I got my blood down to 42 within 3 months it was...

Type 2 Advice on if medication is required

Yes I definitely do. I take Cinnamon tablets before each meals which I put down to my cholesterol lowering so quickly in the past 3 months (nurse didn’t agree). Normally skip breakfast but if I do have it I have porridge & raspberries (Tesco’s original sachets are lowest carbs/sugar) they don’t...

I did actually have some dry roasted nuts before bed last night. Well I wasn’t aware exercise could make it higher after as it initially lowers it.. god, it’s a never ending battle isn’t it.. your damned if you do exercise and damned if you don’t

    high blood sugars today?

Hello Can anyone offer any advise as to why my bloods seem higher today? I got a Fitbit on Saturday and for last 2 days have got back on my LCHF diet and walked 5 plus miles per day on treadmill (not exercised today yet as still at work but will tonight). My morning readings have been...

    Christmas Over Indulgence

I’ve done the same thing! Don’t worry too much just get back on track. I’ve had nearly a week off low carbs but haven’t gone too mad but have had things I should eat.. a handful of maltesers, bowl of trifle, Pringles, Apple crumble.. made sure I had a run on treadmill after or a dog walk but...

Why do some T2’s need insulin?

Harder how? Are you on any medication or diet alone? I am Diet only as long as I can keep around the 48 mark on a1c - I was 51 last test but only as I gained half a stone after giving up smoking so the nurse didn’t seem too concerned as long as I got back on track for he next test - I really...

Why do some T2’s need insulin?

I was wondering why some T2 diabetics need insulin? Is it because it progresses or is it because some people we diagnosed at extremely high levels? Will all T2 diabetics need insulin at some point?

    Christmas Guilt

Totally doable! I managed to go from 51 to 49 in 2 weeks of no carbs and running a mile a day on the treadmill. Then got down to 42, 3 months later.. then gave up smoking, gained a stone, stopped exercising and went back to 51!! Aiming to get back to 42 again soon ..
