    Statins (to Take Or Not)

Your best 'defence' will be education. There are books you can read, YouTube videos you can watch etc. Just ask if you want suggestions. Here's a starter for you, with one of my heroes Dr Macolm Kendrick appearing from 1.45 in https://drmalcolmkendrick.org/statin-nation-the-documentary/...

Thoughts On Whether I May Have Lada

Sadly a GAD test can't rule out LADA, as only 75% who take this test prove positive for it. So testees have a 1 in 4 chance of being left in diagnosis limbo. A LADA's best bet just as with T2s, is to test their blood sugar regularly to check for any fall-off in in insulin production and...

Thoughts On Whether I May Have Lada

Did you make any other changes ? A drop from 103 to 50 seems too much to attribute to Metformin alone. Geoff

Confused .. Lada Or Type 2?!

I'd say monitor your blood sugar levels. During my four years as an assumed Type 2, I was able to maintain good levels on diet alone, so much so that I gave up testing. When eventually I fell quite ill, I didn't suspect for a moment it was blood sugar related until a visit to my GP revealed...

Confused .. Lada Or Type 2?!

An antibody test can't prove you're not LADA. It can only show that 75% of LADAs are so. The remaining 25% of LADAs will 'fail' the antibody test. Insulin resistance is classically associated with Type 2, so my guess is that you ARE LADA. LADAs have a honeymoon period lasting from a few months...

    Bisoprolol. Any Fellow Sufferers

I went into Harefield Hospital on May 25th for an Aortic Valve Replacement, to correct Aortic Stenosis. Unusually (following complications) I spent 3 weeks and 3 days there before being discharged (Monday June 18th). Since discharge I have felt worse than I did on the ward I have felt far...

    Statins (to Take Or Not)

Hi @Denise 2 Below I reproduce a post I made on another thread nearly a year ago "I would say that the main beneficiaries of statins are men with previous heart problems. Dr Malcolm Kendrick (author of The Great Cholesterol Con) also adds: "If you are a woman at very high risk of heart disease...

    Disappointing HbA1c result

Whilst juice is an obvious no-no, NAS squashes are really low carb. My supermarket own-brand variety is 0.4 g per 250 ml glass. It's also aspartame-free ! So @CDudley I wouldn't worry about your squash consumption, and if (i.e.when) you start home testing, you'll be able to see if it poses a...

    Useful

I'd never heard that, but it's probably something to be listed alongside exercise i.e. simply be aware of the effect. I wouldn't consider it a no-no. Working hard in the garden vs sitting watching tv could be similar in effect...

    Carnivore Diet... anyone tried this?

I'm certainly considering trying a carnivore diet. I am currently awaiting imminent heart valve replacement, so it will be less challenging once I'm fully better. Try investigating these people's stories Shawn Baker Amber O'Hearn Jordan Peterson's daughter Geoff

Really High Cholosterol - 13 - Please Help

To summarise what people are saying in the links I provided : IF I'M GETTING IT RIGHT, FH is NOT a problem of HIGHER cholesterol/HIGHER LDL. It's a problem of LDL receptors, which don't allow LDL into the cells. This leaves normal LDL floating around in the blood in higher amounts. If the...

    Bread ... why?

I can't remember the last time I chose to have a sandwich, because I never feel a hankering for one. That said, I very occasionally have to steal one of my wife's slices for one of life's true pleasures CHEESE ON TOAST I may be lowcarb, but you can't take that away from me. Unless you want a...

    Advice for GP appointment

What are you drinking habits ? Tea/coffee with sugar/sweetener ? Or not tea/coffee but sweet drinks e.g. diet colas etc ? Again, I used to drink tea with 3 sugars. I weaned myself off the sugar by reducing the amount. Once off, it took about a week to get used to no sugar. If given some by...

    Advice for GP appointment

Been there. Got the T-shirt. I was the fussiest of eaters as a child. No butter, no gravy etc. I must have been a nightmare for my mother. Gag reflex ? I bet mine is/was bigger than yours. As you say it's often down to mouth-feel. Also, psychologically, I wonder if it's connected to being in...
