    Libre pain

I love it as a tool. Oh, and don’t forget to scan your sensor last thing before you go to bed, as it retains 8 hours of data, so if you don’t scan last thing at night, you are in danger of losing data.

    Libre pain

Hi, I have been using the Libre since September and have just changed over to the Libre 2. My thoughts: It is so useful to see where your numbers are heading, and the Libre 2 has the added bonus of the low glucose alarm. Be aware that the readings do vary, compared to a finger prick; I will...

    Struggling with highs and lows

So, I’ve just woken up - Libre says 2.3, blood prick says 5.3. So, in future if this happens, should I take some fast acting carbs now, or wait until the Libre gets to Lo, or I show symptoms? Have ended up taking some glucogel down the tube, just in case.

    Struggling with highs and lows

Thanks. Liquids go through quite well, it’s solids that hang around. The feed is on for about 20 hrs per day and goes straight into my jejunum, so should absorb fairly quickly, and I just checked. It has 78 carbs in the bottle. BS back down now, so I’ve bitten the bullet and started the feed...

    Struggling with highs and lows

So I’m fairly newly diagnosed and tube fed, which makes things difficult. I woke up and my Libre said I had a hypo in the night, but I didn’t wake up, so may have been a dodgy reading. This is my last Libre sensor and then I am moving to the Libre 2 with the alarms, which may help. So I had a...

Grumble..grumble...Libre 2 reading far too low

I still like the info it gives me - better than all that finger pricking. I found it really difficult reverting back to finger pricking when I ran out of sensors and was waiting for a replacement.

Grumble..grumble...Libre 2 reading far too low

I’ve ended up having all but about 2 sensors replaced since the beginning of September - they either stop working or start giving ridiculous readings.

How low is too low at bedtime?

Thanks. No there’s no alcohol involved. I confirmed with a finger prick and then managed to fall asleep, whilst trying to stay awake! Just woken up and readings are on their way up thank you (although while confirmed at 4.2, still a bit low for bed), and the trend is now showing an upward arrow...

How low is too low at bedtime?

Hi, I’m fairly new to all this. I’m sitting on the side of my bed and I know my sugars are going low (he Libre is saying ‘Lo’, so I know I should get up and do a finger prick……. But, how low is too low to go to bed on? I am trying to raise my level, but don’t yet feel happy settling down until...

    Anyone got a diabetic cat?

I’m sorry to hear that. May I ask how old your cat is and how long have they had diabetes?

    Freestyle libre time lag

That’s really uncalled for, especially since the official advice is to double check with a finger prick! It’s shocking, how expensive those strips are.

    Freestyle libre time lag

oh crikey, I’m lucky - my surgery hasn’t thought to restrict mine yet.

    Freestyle libre time lag

I am new to all of this, but I just use the Libre as a guide (since I have found the readings can be quite a way out). I have got out of the obsession with checking every reading and comparing to a finger prick (I was finding myself getting quite stressed about it (my apologies to those who have...

Little Things……..what has pleased you this week?

That sounds yummy! I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better. Such sad news about your goat, but great news that you have found the lonely goat some new friends.

Little Things……..what has pleased you this week?

They say that little things please little minds…..I am pleased today, to have received my new Libre 2 reader, that Abbott have sent me. They do seem very good at replacing things, and I really didn’t expect them to just send me a new reader when I asked for it. Secondly, my Son has been working...

Confused as to my status - any thoughts?

I can understand that. I like looking at my trends. My trouble has been getting out of the habit of finger prick testing after every Libre reading, to see how far out it is! It kind of defeats the object! I am a managing to ‘sit on my hands’ and only double check if I get a particularly extreme...

    Christmas Struggles - TEMPTATIONS EVERYWHERE

@AlexMac I understand exactly what you mean. I am tube fed and haven’t eaten a meal for around 7 years and I can almost feel myself starting to feel depressed about food at this time of year. Whilst food shopping last weekend, I could feel tears welling up, because all I want to do is shove a...

At what age were you diagnosed?

It is really interesting, I agree @AlexMac . I wonder if GPs make this assumption too, thus explaining why they seem so reluctant to do the c-peptide and Anti Gad tests. I just kept getting told that it was highly unlikely to be anything other than T2 for me,’because’…. I really do wonder how...

    Libre 2 support

I have had lots of issues with Libre 1 readings and sensors. Now I have got the sensors prescribed, I am going to change to the Libre 2, primarily so that I will get the hypo alarm facility. I’ll be interested to see how the 2 measures up. I have had so many sensors replaced, I start to see why...
