    low carb bread

I make a low carb "bread" which I use sliced into fingers but it doesn't really work as a sandwich bread. Any normal bread spikes me but I can manage a Lidl Hi Protein roll from time to time. Sadly I don't have a Lidl nearby, hence making my own.

    Lowered My Hb1ac Readings

Well done Ian. It's a great feeling when you get a result like that isn't it? I was diagnosed with an HBA1C of 97 and went down to 37 within a year but it was hard work. I haven't used any meds so far and fingers crossed I won't have to. Have you asked your DN about stopping meds? Keep up...

    Hba1c result

Thanks @ringi. I suppose I see Metformin as the first step on the slippery slope to insulin and I NEVER want to go there. But I also know that I may have to take metformin at some point in the future if I can't keep such tight control (and OMG it's hard with a stick thin husband and ravenous...

    Hba1c result

@ringi Why is taking metformin a better option? Ive reduced my HBA1C from 97 to 37 with diet alone, no meds. I want to put off taking metformin for as long as possible. My reasoning is that I don't want yo take any medication unless I have to.

    I like this fasting makarky

I could try double cream. I usually drink black coffee first thing. Worth a go.

    I like this fasting makarky

Thanks. I'm a bit reluctant to skip dinner as I work out most evenings and tend to feel a bit sick if I do it on a completely empty stomach. Usually I have eggs for breakfast, chicken or fish with salad or veg for lunch and then a snack at about 6pm, workout 7 -9pm, then home for a light...

    I like this fasting makarky

Hi I'm wondering about doing IF but when I've tried to not eat breakfast, my bg levels just go up and up. I have a problem in the mornings anyway with high readings - they are usually between 7 and 8 no matter what I eat/ don't eat the night before. If I eat breakfast they usually start to drop...

    Marathonmona's 8 week 800 calorie diet

Thanks for all the responses to my post. I don't think waiting for an 8 week stretch of no socialising is going to work as I don't think any such slot exists for me! We go to a lot of dinner parties and also eat out at restaurants with friends. The restaurants are easier I guess as I can...

    Marathonmona's 8 week 800 calorie diet

Hi I'm toying with the idea of buying the Michael Moseley book and starting the 800 calorie BSD. But I was wondering how to cope with eating out? My husband and I have quite a lot of social occasions coming up and I can't see how how I would manage it. Do you just not eat all day and save your...

    Moving to UK

I live in a small village with a GP surgery. There are 6 GPs and several.nurses. it covers the nearby villages as well. Although I'm officially on one Dr's list I can see any Dr or nurse I want to. Most surgeries have a catchment area so you have to live within a certain distance but in a city...

    Type 2 Life

Are you not able to swim at the moment? I love swimming but only in the sea/lakes. As we don't live anywhere near the sea I don't swim very often. I did go to the Suffolk coast last week and swam every day. It was so warm I didn't even need my wetsuit [emoji3] I'll keep my fingers crossed that...

    Do you ever feel ashamed?

I know exactly what you mean. I was diagnosed 18 months ago and the only person I've told is my husband. People do judge. I was overweight at diagnosis (12 stone 10 lbs) and now weigh just over 10 stone. Only 2 of my friends are overweight, the rest are really slim and sporty. I agree with...

Fasting blood glucose is driving me nuts but doc says to take it easy. Should I?

Mine too. I've got my HBA1C down from 97 to 37 without meds but my FBG is still really high. 8.5 this morning. Makes me want to scream!

Fasting? (Or, what went right this week?)

Despite getting my HBA1C down from 97 to 37 without meds, my FBG is always high. Usually around 8. I have been eating LCHF since diagnosis last year and the FBG has been consistently high all that time. It was 9.4 yesterday morning. If I don't eat breakfast it climbs all morning until I'm in...

a walk after a meal lowers Blood sugars

It's not always possible to walk or exercise straight after meals. I eat breakfast at 6.45 and leave the house at 7.10 to get to work. There is no way I could fit in a walk between breakfast and leaving the house. Similarly with lunch - I am often eating it in a 15 minute gap between meetings. I...

off the monitor scale once again!!

Hello @Johnny-45. Your numbers sound very high and will be damaging your body unless brought under control. I think you need to go back to your GP. I'm sure you do feel awful as you have so much to deal.with. I really hope ypu get it sorted and start to feel better soon.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Afternoon . I weighed myself this morning - 149 lbs, same as last week. I haven't exercised much this week as work has been manic. Hopefully I'll burn off a few more calories next week and see a drop. We go on holiday 4 weeks today and I really want to be below 10 1/2 stone for that. Although...

Type 2 Diabetes now on medication

Hi I was diagnosed last year with a MUCH higher HbA1c than you - 97. I chose not yo take medication but to try to manage my condition by changing what I ate. I switched to LCHF and my HBA1C is now 37. So it can be done. However, I bought a Meter and tested before and after every meal until I...
